Im glad others picked up on the announcing. I too was blown away at the announcer saying that mayberry should stand there and a toledo player should run and hit him, and ask how he would like it! what a piece of sh!t that guy was. I agree too about them talking about "it wasnt a touchdown" the ENTIRE game!

I didn't see any replays, but in person it sure did not look like Mayberry tried to put a blow on the WR at all. How did it look on the replays?
He did.
On the replays it looked like he was simply flying through the air and couldn't have altered his momentum to avoid contact. There was certainly no intent to maliciously injure.

It was a joke. The sideline reporter seemed to take the hint and asked Amstutz about it at halftime and, to his credit, he dismissed it and talked about how great the rivalry is.
