If the Huskies beat the Broncos, the Zips will face Northern Illinois in the championship based on their 24-14 victory over Bowling Green on Oct. 29.
If Western Michigan wins, the Falcons will take on the Rockets in the final because Bowling Green's opponents from the West Division would have a better conference winning percentage than Akron's crossover opponents.
The RedHawks can't advance to the conference championship game because they lose tiebreakers to the Falcons and Zips.

As it stands, the best Akron can do is a three-way tie with Miami and Bowling Green. Each team is 1-1 agains the others -- meaning one of those games should not be pulled out and elevated above the others. That seems unfair to Akron. They beat us. If they end up with an identical record, they should go.
The next tie break is the strength of our crossover opponents. If Western Michigan wins, our crossover opponents will have been slightly tougher.
If Northern Illinois wins, I think Akron's opponents would have been slightly tougher. Either that, or its a tie -- and they go to another tie breaker that favors Akron.

Thanks for the info. Since my earlier post I read the tie-breaker stuff on www.bgsufalcons.com and upon further review, I guess it does make sense. So when there are three teams tied for first and none deserve to go to the MACC, it can get convoluted. As I said in an earlier post, whoever comes out of the East will be destroyed by whoever comes out of the West (especially if it's Akron).Schadenfreude wrote:Really.RobbyFalcon wrote:Really?

NIU is up 28-7 late in the 2nd quarter. WMU lost its starting QB to a broken leg on the opening drive.
