Would Akron really get snubbed coming in second place to NIU though? Not that I will argue that Akron brings more fans than anybody else, they don't, can't, and won't for years to come. We have talked of teams getting passed by before, but it has yet to happen.

I hope they get snubbed. They are not anywhere near as good or marketable as Toledo.NWLB wrote:Would Akron really get snubbed coming in second place to NIU though? There is my problem with it. Not that I'm sure there aren't a few UT fans waiting for me in particular to say something, but truth of the matter aside, I'd rather they stay home. I'd rather not send a message to the rest of the MAC that winning games doesn't mean anything. BG has been in that position before. Plus it would help to reward somebody else in the league.

From another thread posted earlier in the week. A 6-6 team is not bowl eligible. This means when NIU beats Akron in the MACC, Akron won't be eligible.NWLB wrote:Would Akron really get snubbed coming in second place to NIU though? Prediction is NIU in GMAC and UT in the Motor City. Can't see it working out any other way given UT's win last night.

As I noted in an earlier thread, teams have applied for and been granted exceptions to play games at 6-6. Indeed it isn't actually that uncommon. Plus I still think it is better for the MAC if that is what happens. I won't hide my dislike of UT making their suffering an appealing option. However, that aside, I think it is simply bad form to snub a team in the title game. There have been a lot of years UT was in that title game as the third of fourth best team in the league, had their been a second game, I'm sure they'd still demand to go to a bowl for having made it that far.
