NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND!

Post by ChicagoFalcon »

Check this article out! I've been delving into all the possibilities that we could play one more game this season despite our trip ups this season. We still could have a chance if Chryst can work some magic for us!!!

Comparing the rest of the 6 win teams, the only one I see that would be picked AFTER us would be New Mexico. Other than that, this team does not have a good chance at a bowl.

I agree with you but it sure would be nice to get some season ending redemption. If God-willing, I wouldn't care who we would play or where we'd play, just don't wear those dreaded brown uniforms again!

Dreaded? I hope you're just saying that because we happened to lose when wearing them. Those jerseys were about as badass as I've seen an alternate jersey ANYWHERE in a long time!

Face it everyone...We had a chance, we controled our own destiny, and we blew it. Don't Pass Go. Don't Collect $200. Game Over. See you next year.

Yep.

But until the bowl committees officially tell us to GFY, I'd rather cling to the hope that someone might take a shot at putting BG in a bowl, considering the alternative is waiting until September for more Falcon football.

Of the teams in the "In Contention" category, 6 more got their 6th win today. UConn also got their 5th and could get to 6 next week. Our season is over. We had our shot and lost for the 3rd straight time on our home field.

That's true, we lost our last three home games to close out the year....if we won just one of those three games, we're playing in the MAC Championship game next week and likely a lock for a third consecutive bowl game. Instead, we're likely sitting on the end of one of the most disappointing seasons since probably the mid 1990s. This team was built for a MAC Championship and bowl game this year. To go 6-5 this season with this team and this schedule, that is a major disappointment.

Exactly, 33. That is what's killing me right now. Losing 3 MAC games at home???? NEVER thought that would happen in 2005. Win 1 and we're in Detroit Thursday. I feel badly for the kids....broken hearts and 2006 cannot get here soon enough.
Oh the humanity! LOL

Could be some intense motivation for 2006 for the whole program...sitting home watching other teams in Bowls for the 1st time in 3 years.

"Could" is the key word. We'll see how this team responds next year. I'm hopeful that as disappointing as this season was that perhaps next year will be suprisingly good.

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

I don't think this should really surprise anyone here. They've been looking at UT for awhile now.

And at 8-3, UT deserves a bowl, IMO.

For the record, I didn't necessarily mean the GMAC or MCB bowls... I just meant that until 56 slots are filled and we're not one of them, who knew what could happen? Toledo deserves a spot over us. Over one of the other MACC finalists? Maybe not. I really hope for NIU's sake that they win, or find an invite with a loss. To finally get that ugly blue and gold monkey off your back and then have to watch them play in a bowl game and not you might not be so good for the Huskie ego...

I don't expect us to go to a bowl anywhere, the reasons why, if not obvious, have been beaten into a pulp here already. All I meant when I made the GFY comment is that I'd rather hold onto a random hope that we'd get one more game to play this year than face nine months of Falcon Football-free time until 2006 gets here. Even with a 6-5 season in the books and three shitty feelings in my stomach leaving stadiums (Wisky, Akron, UT), I just can't let some of the optimism go, I guess.
