Have you ever driven in Athens? It's hard to drive the right way down the many 1 way streets sober!

I have been to Athens many times, and you are right, it can be tricky driving on some of those streets. But I guess after a few cold ones, all those brick streets start looking the same!

especially when you are passed out at the wheel, unable to open the door. I think he might have had more than a few "cold ones"

Hahaha that is funny. Yes driving down in Athens is miserable, period. Stupid Solich though. I definitely can't say i saw this one coming. The college and community really rallied behind him this year, it will be interesting to see everyone's reaction down there. I'll do my best to pass along what I hear.

Now this is who i'd like to have teach my kids how to make responsible choices. They suspend and terminate the athletes for this kind of stunt, so they should fire coaches for it.

You think if Knorr did this while at Ohio they'd keep him around???? Ha! He'd have been gone in a second! I can easily see them keeping Solich and trying to sweep this under the rug though.

Here's the article that was posted on ESPN:

ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio coach Frank Solich was convicted of drunken driving Monday, two days after police spotted him slumped over the wheel of his vehicle.

Solich, in his first season with the Bobcats, pleaded no contest and was ordered to complete a three-day driver intervention program. He also had his license suspended for 180 days and was fined $250.

The former Nebraska coach apologized in court. He declined to comment afterward.

The university, in a statement released before his court appearance, said Solich would remain in charge of the Bobcats as it monitored the case.

Solich, 61, appeared to be passed out when police found him Saturday night in the vehicle, which was facing the wrong direction on a one-way street and in drive, according to a police report.

"I know Frank as a man of impeccable integrity, and I am confident that he will respond to this situation in a positive manner and use these circumstances to better teach others, including his players, the importance of making wise decisions," Ohio athletic director Kirby Hocutt said in the statement.

The Bobcats were 4-7 in their first year under Solich, who grew up in Ohio.

Solich was 58-19 in six seasons as Nebraska's coach before being fired after the 2003 regular season.

I hear Solich called Michael Irvin after the arrest, who advised Frank to tell police that it wasn't *his* booze in his system, it was a friend's, and he was going to get rid of it as soon as possible, but he forgot.

I remember every time Ohio was on TV this year, they showed that "Got Frank" ad on the back of the Pepsi truck driving around Athens. Well I’ve got a better idea. Maybe Guinness would like to replace that ad with a new one for their truck that says "DUI while being the head football coach – BRILLIANT!!!” I know, low blow, but after hearing all my OU friends rave about the "Got Frank," we can have some fun, right. You know they're loving this down in Oxford.

Us? *You're* the folks with a poster named "Schadenfreude."

That said, we do have a Police Blotter forum at MHT. Although we designed it with UC in mind, it has been getting a workout today.

earlier this week, uc canned a basketball assistant for a dui, citing a policy involving "(sic) conduct detrimental to the university or its athletic pograms."
