10-7 @ Ohio State - W

just wishful thinking here since no one is in the room to bash my predictions! It was fun living that old winning moment again though. See you all next season!

3 of those wins right there would be an absolute wet dream. We be very lucky to come away with a 3-1 pre mac season. But yes its nice to dream and imagine what we could do. We'd need alot of help , namely Omar staying for starters.

3-1 is doable. no way you are convincing me we beat OSU and Wiscy, and Boise. 2-1 at best in those games and then a nice win over FIU

My realistic prediction against the non-conference teams, East opponents and Toledo:

Wisconsin - W - I'm hopeful that we get revenge for Calhoun's game in Madison
at FIU - W - warm weather and a good win
Boise State - big L - they will be better next year than they were this year
at OSU - even bigger L - I hate 'em, but their 'O' will be loaded
Miami - W - they have to replace a ton of senior talent too
at Akron - W - don't know if they have anyone to replace Biggs; not too impressed with their QB
Kent - W - improved, but still not there yet
at OU - L - McRae is back at RB (I think) and most of the 'D' (outside of Byrum) is back
Buffalo - W - they're still Buffalo
Toledo - L - Omar's legacy will be his PS-like numbers and his inability to beat Toledo

Call me pessimistic if you would like, but these are the results I expect. I'm excited to see what next year brings. Plenty of new faces will be out on the field and I can't wait to see what some of the young guys can do. The schedule is absolutely brutal, though.

Yes McRae is back. He's only a sophomore. A lot of the talk around Athens reminds of how we talked about Pope when he was a frosh/soph.

With Omar I think we're probably 6-6.
Without Omar I'm thinking 4-8, 5-7.

We're losing a LOT of talent off of a team that wasn't very good. We do have some young players on defense that looked promising, and I liked what I saw from Partridge & Thomas. I just don't think we've seen nearly enough to be real confident in replacing Sanders, Sharon, Pope, and Lane on offense. Other than Jelani, who had a much improved senior season, I don't think our defensive losses are much to lose sleep over...

Actually, I dont think thats pessimistic at all. I dont like our chances against Ohio or Toledo on the road either. We wont beat Ohio State, and we'll probably split against Wisconsin and Boise.

Also, our other two MAC games are @Eastern Michigan and vs Central Michigan. I think we win both of those to go 6-2 in the conference. Thats probably good enough to win the MAC East unless Ohio has a gangbuster season.

Can't believe some of these game predictions. BG might have a winning season if the QB situation pans out, i.e., Omar comes back (not likely), or Turner improves in an exponential manner. Otherwise, it's going to be a long season as I don't see a single game that's automatically in the win column, not one.

People who are expecting to beat Wisconsin next year should look at both teams' returning talent. Wisconsin will be LOADED next year and we will be replacing a ton of talent. If we couldn't score with Wisconsin last year, how are we gonna come close next year, regardless of venue? It's possible we win, but i'm putting that game near the Oklahoma win probability.

Don't look at me. I don't think we've got a snowball's chance in Hades to beat either of the Big10 teams we're playing.

Back to the times when playing them to within 20 looked good.

I am going to take the glass is half full approach. If Omar leaves, then yes, our offense will struggle a bit. But our o-line will be solid again and I think Macon playing again will lead us to become more of a running team, ala the Harris era. I think we will use the TE more often and go with 3 WRs (Patridge, Parks, Ruiz) that have some experience and potential. We won't be putting up 40 or 50 points a week, but I think the O can still win us some games. Especially with Turner having some game experience under his belt, I don't think the coaches will keep the wraps on him as much as they did this year.

As far as the defense goes, I am cautiously optimistic. We played a lot of guys on defense, a lot of young guys. And coach Lovett will now have an entire year to put his defensive scheme into place. We have our starting DEs returning plus Briggs was coming on strong at the end of the year. Freshman Nick Davis saw a lot of time at DT as well. Terrell White will be back to lead the LBing core. I think Winovich and Haneline will need to step up at the other two LB spots. At CB we have Smith and Lewis, anybody concerned about that? I'm not. Hargrove returns at SS. Then we have the mysterious case of Perry. He can man a safety position if he returns or Dozier could be moved back from WILL to FS. I seriuosly think our defense will be much improved, and this doesn't even consider any redshirt guys that may play, like Frericks or James, etc.

My prediction for record is ...7-5 overall, 6-2 in the MAC.

Ok, I will take my shot at this. Not something I usually take part in. Here are my thoughts.

Omar stays. 8-4 Losses to UW, OSU, Boise and a MAC Loss somewhere down the road, but we will beat Toledo. Maybe a loss to Central or Akron, but not Ohio or Miami. Ohio will still need another season before becoming a strong MAC team. They were just too inconsistent this year and will not be much different next year.

Omar goes. 7-5 Losses to UW, OSU, Boise and two MAC Losses including a loss to Toledo in the glass bowl. I think Akron's defense will be strong next year, but their offense will still be middle of the road.

We will not finish any worse than 6-6, if we do then I will eat a bug!

Our defense will mature and be much better than this years. We will see some very good contributions from our red-shirt freshmen on defense and a great contribution by the sophomore class on both sides of the ball. Brandon's recruiting classes will begin to show their stuff.

Looking in my crystal ball tells me that the 2007 season will see BG being hyped much in the same manner as this past years team was. I think the future looks very good.
