MACMAN:

The MCB has made no secret about wanting Western Michigan. The best-case scenario for the MAC right now is NIU winning the MACC game and Chryst pulling of a minor miracle by landing a third bowl bid. NIU would get that bid and WMU would get the MCB.

At best, BG is fourth in line for a bowl bid.

If Tim Hiller's leg is broken (and I think it is), the last thing anyone in the MAC should want is them in a bowl game where they would get pasted. Let's take our chances on UT and NIU going 2-0.

87, I agree that the MCB would have liked WMU. But when Hiller went down, and the team was killed at NIU, any chance of them going to a bowl game evaporated. There is no way that a third MAC team goes bowling this year. But if there was, I have to say we would be next in line for a bid.

Why would we be next I line for the bid? :?: I think Miami or Toledo would have just as good, if not better of a shot than we would...

Well for one, toledo is alreay in front of the line since they accepted the GMAC bowl Bid. I'm not thinking they will get two bids if the MAC would get a third (big inconcievability to begin with) For Miami, BG beat Miami head to head so there's that argument.

Well, let's think...UT already has a bowl and they can't play in two of them. We beat the crap out of Miami on their field. Omar is still a draw.

Whoa... Toledo already accepted for the GMAC bowl, and they aren't even in the MACC? I hadn't read that. So there is the real possibility that technically the second place MAC team sits at home??? That's f'ed up! Then I would think that the loser of the MACC game would be in a better postion than us, right?

But using that logic, then Western should be next in line, because they beat the crap out of us...

Not necessarily, cause if the loser is Akron, they will be 6-6 and not eligible for a bowl (re: at least two different threads with 87alums talks with NCAA office). If NIU were to lose and end up 7-5, then I would think that if a 3rd bowl was there they would deserve it. Anyway, I already spent my bowl trip money on a little get away with my wife over thanksgiving, so it doesn't really matter to me anymore.

The only way BG gets a bowl bid is if the eastern seaboard falls into the Atlantic in the next few weeks (except for Florida since they host so many games).

This whole thread feels like deja vu. Anyways, BG accepted the GMAC last year as well, and if you recall, we did not play in the MACC either. The GMAC is under no obligation to take a team in the MACC. That's just the breaks when it comes to the GMAC.
