I agree with this statement. Next year's senior class is loaded with guys like Kenneth Brantley, Brandon Jones, Will Myles, etc. that have had little playing time and have yet to show big-time potential on the field. Looking at the roster, I believe the only impact seniors next year will be (assuming Omar goes pro this year): White, Parks, Markray, Ruiz, Leininger (possibly) and Brad Williams. Some really good players in there, but next year should provide some great experience for the younger guys, like Winovich, Haneline, Lewis, Macon, Thomas, Partridge, other young receivers, and Turner. I don't want to look past next year 260 days before it starts, but 2007 looks promising.Spart43 wrote:Looking in my crystal ball tells me that the 2007 season will see BG being hyped much in the same manner as this past years team was. I'm surprised somebody hasn't brought this aspect up yet....but why do we schedule such hard OOC games. It's got to be the pay day it represents.
Toledo pretty much coasted through their OOC early this year, and chalked up wins.
So why don't we do the same? Especially since bowl eligibility depends on total wins not Strength of Schedule.
Lets face it, what would you rather be doing next year..."wow, we sure gave theOSU a good game" or planning your Bowl junket?

I think it's a matter of balance. I like playing a big OOC game (Wisky or OSU), two "good" games (Boise State, other mid-majors or lower-level BCS-conference teams) and one "gimme" (yes, even I-AA). That's a good pattern until we can compete at a higher level on a consistent level.hammb wrote:I would rather play the best OOC schedule we can and build up a program that can compete with those. We had that a couple years ago, and I'm hopeful we'll return to that level.
Even the most successful programs tend to pad their OOC schedule here and there. I don't think that's a cop-out, either. It's a matter of attempting to protect yourself physically and also developing depth; as much as some hate the idea of SE Mizzou State, that's a great game for the second- and third-teamers to get game action in a relatively non-stress environment.
Wow. Painfully precise statement there, o&b.orangeandbrown wrote:Next year's senior class is loaded with guys who have been passed on the depth charts.BGGrad01 wrote:I agree with this statement. The last of that dick Urban Meyer's kids will have left...the program will be Gregg Brandon's through and through.
I don't care if we play a 1AA team on a 12 game schedule. I just want a home game or two before October. What's the point in going to a college with substantially more females if you have to see them dressed in parkas?

Best reason ever given for playing I-AA teams and, IMO, completely irrefutable.Flipper wrote:I don't care if we play a 1AA team on a 12 game schedule. I just want a home game or two before October. If Memory serves, it was 75 degrees for the Temple game, and I didnt see anybody, male or female, dressed in parkas that day.1987alum wrote:Best reason ever given for playing I-AA teams and, IMO, completely irrefutable.Flipper wrote:I don't care if we play a 1AA team on a 12 game schedule. Here's how I think the Falcons will do next year...
Wisconsin - W (Wisc wont be as good with losses of Calhoun and Stocco)
@ FIU - W (FIU stinks)
Boise State - L (Boise could mount a BCS push next season)
@ Ohio State - L (We are NOT beating OSU in the horseshoe)
Buffalo - W (Buffalo is just plain awful)
@ Ohio - L (Ohio is an improving program and I think we'll have trouble in Athens)
Central Michigan - W (CMU is headed for regression after decent season)
@ Eastern Michigan - W (EMU isnt that good, their playmakers leave)
Miami - L (Somehow I think Miami will pay us back)
@ Akron - W (Akron is a fluke, we'll pay them back in spades)
Kent State - W (Kent State is horrible)
@ Toledo - L (We havent won in the Glass Bowl in a long time, UT to reload next year anyway)
That puts us at 7-5 overall and 5-3 MAC.
