The national media loves Ohio State because they have a national following. They are one of the few college teams that has tons of tons of tons of fans that were never affiliated with the Univ. This is also the reason why they are a near lock for a BCS bowl if they are anywhere near the top, just like Notre Dame.
Put any Ohio State team against any BCS school anywhere in the country and a bowl game, and the fans will go there. If I were a bowl exec., and I chose Oregon over Ohio State for my bowl that was located....anywhere but Oregon, I should get fired. The sole purpose of a bowl game is to make some ca$h, and OSU will do that for you.
I said the media hates them...i didnt say they dont get the attention. I also said they act like OSU is evil WHEN THEY PLAY MICHIGAN, ANY FLORIDA TEAM NOTRE DAME PSU, OR USC. If OSU is playing anyone else the announcers are fine but against any of those previously mentioned schools you can hear it in the announcers voices. Especially Bob Griese he and musberger are the worst. Brent Musberger who is a n'western grad might as well have been wearing a big fat M on his yellow and blue wardrobe for the osu michigan game.
ESPN, absolutely hates ohio state or any school that has anything to do with Ohio. i dont know why but they do. Kirk Herbstreit even acts like he hates OSU at times.
One of my favorite things in the world is when people have no idea how ridiculous they sound. Especially when irony is involved.

I didn't even want to enter this discussion. I held off till page two. But you don't think many of us on this board are actually going to feel sorry for osu you do you? I think you're on the wrong messageboard.

And I was saying the media does not hide the fact very well that they dislike OSU. back to my example of Brent Musbergers wardrobe for the game. He had a disagreement with earl Bruce before an OSU LSU game @ LSU where Earl refused to sucker into some gay ass CBS (where musberger worked at the time) pregame B.S.

I have browsed a few other college messageboards and I have yet to see one that says talk about other schools here. Don't get me wrong this forum is fine but I just think it's funny that certain posters on here expect us to get down on our knees and praise another school or feel sorry for another school when something doesn't go their way.
I don't see many other schools or fans feeling sorry for us that we didn't have a stellar season and didn't go to a bowl game.

Well to talk about another school, UK has two different boards that I have checked out. The main one (run by a fairly crazy lady who weilds admin powers such that mentioning other UK boards will get your post deleted, but has some decent discussion) has forums for discussing SEC FB and Basketball, KY FB and Basketball and national FB. The other site, dedicated to UK women's sports, specifically BB, has forums for SEC BB and National BB.
But mostly I like to use our other school forum to poke fun at UK (though I do love to support them as well, it is definetly a second home). I mean come on, you think Hammb has problems with Brandon, man I hate to see the things he'd say if Rich Brooks was BGs coach.
The bowl game will sellout with Oregon OR Ohio State. Doesn't matter. So the two other variables, IMO, are how much money will the team's fans spend and how will that team draw on TV? Sorry, the football stuff is secondary.
On both those counts, I'd wager that Ohio State wins. My former boss (an Ohio State alum) went to the National Championship game a few years back and said practically every merchant said the same thing "Ohio State fans are big spenders." Every discussion I've had with Those Who Know say the same thing - when Ohio State is in a bowl game, the fans come to town ready to spend, more than most any other school.
As for TV, no discussion needed, methinks. Called it Midwest/East Coast bias, anti-West Coast sentiment, whatever, but there's no way Oregon draws more viewers than Ohio State.
My two cents, anyway.

i didnt complain that they didnt get any attention. They get all the attention and respect in the world. by media I mean certain play by play announcers most notably musberger and griese absolutley despise OSU.
The IRONY would be to complain about OSU not being on TV enough or how the big ten never gets respect or attention. It would be ironic because MAC barely gets anything.
when BG is on TV, they actually get lots of respect from the announcers who do the games. especially during the wisky game. they talked BG up big time.
