Ok the bowl picture thread has me thinking.
how much better recieved/respected/ranked, would the MAC X be just if the MAC spun off BGSU, MIAMI, Toledo, WESTERN MI, NIU, central MI, then picked up , Ohio, WV and rutgers and another name brand ND. ( just trying to keep the confernce some what regional, I know its a stretch at best for "regional" but the idea is I could easily see our avg rankings going up just for doing it. I know we wont, but adding temple has to pull us down even more in the electoral eye, which just does not add up, esp with all the work to grow the confernce and gain national attention.
So another question...what is your Dream MAC team make up? Have fun with it, put out a couple 10-12 team layouts.
MAC haves, and MAC have nots.

I pretty much like what we got. Football only teams are out in my league and teams with no football, ever in their history are out. Sorry, Buffalo. I can get to every game in about four hours tops and with the exception of BG, Akron and UT I think all these teams have won the MAC bb title in the last millenium so there is some basketball parity as well. And after all football is just a snack before the main course.
Oh, I might add ohio state and u of m just so they would get their athletic thing back in perspective and so all these stupid osu-michigan contest things would disappear and the BIG game would rightfully be UT facing BG for the MAC basketball championship. (This is a fantasy excersize, right?)

Lets face it, I love my MAC Conference too but lets get serious here! Adding Temple wasn't a smart move in my opinion. We were on the threshold of gaining the love of the country a couple of years ago with all those great MAC wins against BCS teams. The ugly makeup of the bowl games and the BCS system hurts us even more. The football Gods claim that no one wants to see a MAC team, but I don't hear that in the College BBall Community. Actually, America loves to see the Cinderella teams gain exposure as I do too.
I'd like to see WV come on over ND and heck let's add Illinois and Indiana since they can't produce in the Crap 10. The prob with this is that the MAC is like a virus, no one wants to be around you to catch what you have (in this case, it would be loseritis).

I'd take it back to a 10-team conference, and you play everyone in football once (with three non-conference games with the 12-game season) and everyone twice (home-and-home) in basketball. Almost liked it used to be and I'll take it again anyday!

'33, I had thought you had become irrevicobally a negative bastard of late, with great credit to the fact that you now live in Demon country.BGSU33 wrote:I'd take it back to a 10-team conference, and you play everyone in football once (with three non-conference games with the 12-game season) and everyone twice (home-and-home) in basketball. BUT - for all of the "what is your ideal MAC?" bullsh!t MAC threads I have seen in my brief life, this is by far the best response I have ever seen! We should definately go grab a beer while I am home for Christmas here in a couple of weeks - and I owe you one for such a great post! How does the Ironwood sound?
