Four years in the FMB...

Post by FliccGirl »

...by the numbers:

Number of directors: 2
Number of grad assistants: 6
Number of band trips: 7
Number of uniforms: 2
Number of bowl games: 2
Number of drum majors: 6
Number of halftime shows: 17
Number of pre-games marched in the Doyt: 23
Number of fourth-year marchers: 21

And also, for the fun of it:

Four mandatory long-sleeve white band t-shirts: $60.00
Four years' worth of white band gloves: $12.00
Four band CDs and DVDs: $150.00
Four band banquet tickets: $60.00
Sunscreen, aloe, ibuprofen, and band-aids for four Fundamentals Weeks: $25.00
Knowing you never have to march pre-game again...... priceless.

Congrats to everyone who's done. You'll miss it for a bit. Then when August rolls around and it's 108 in the shade (I know, what shade?) You'll be like "Damn this AC feels good."

Once agian, congrats!!! Take a bow. You've earned it!!

Why does everyone hate pregame so much?! I freakin' loved it. Maybe I'm just crazy.

Well, yeah, but I don't know that it has anything to do with you liking pregame.

I was mostly trying to be amusing. Pre-game is exhilarating and exhausting and amazing and draining. I think pre-game and I have a love-hate relationship.... I love it, and it hates me.

How 'bout this... my poor little band heart is broken that I'll never march pre-game again.... but my feet, back, lungs, legs, etc are absolutely delighted.

Really, I didn't feel that much discomfort when my wife had our babies. It wasn't too bad for you with yours was RUIT

I say this cause my wife hasn't been on here for a while, otherwise my line is "nothing will ever be so painful in my life, dear" Babies aren't bad. The first is work. The second mulitplies the work (though for 2 kids it feels like 4x the work). Then for some reason, the 3rd doesn't seem like to much more. Maybe its cause the oldest one can now help. I think its cause the parents have relaxed and come to learn that it takes 4 minutes with out O2 for brain damage to set it. You can really get a lot done in 4min

It's not just the birthin' part - which was quite painless for me other than talking about the weather with the midwife and nurse whilst holding my wife's leg over my head - it's the raising part. My daughter is a little bit of a challenge for me because she's just like me. This makes her a major pain in the @ss just in a more efficient package.

I don't mean this to sound like I never appreciated the FMB before (because any of you FMB'ers that know me know that I always have), but I just wanted to say THANK YOU to all of you seniors! I have asked (at least) one question in this forum that has assumpitvely indicated that I don't appreciate what all of you do for our University day in and day out, and that was never the intended sentiment. You are all some of the most dedicated Falcon Fans that BGSU has, and will have well into the future.

I was able to make it to one football game this year. Unfortunately that was the Toledo game. BUT, I did stand right behind you guys on the west side, and it was PHENOMENAL to get to hear you guys play in person again! The football season was long in part because I was listening to the games on WBGU on the net, but in larger part because I didn't get to hear you all pumping up the crowd like you always do so well!

A big thanks to all of you seniors this year, and a continuing thanks to all of you who will be returning! And Saxy, I tried finding you at the Toledo game but didn't (the cold may have had something to do with that - what with my desert-dwelling ass and all!). Hope to see you over Christmas (you had better call me! ).

Me gusta la FMB. :D

All I'm going to say is be glad you didn't have a shitty section leader or injuries. My numbers there were A LOT lower...

I had three glorious years, and one glorious exit!!!

Things I lost by not being permitted to be in the FMB all four years:
An easy A
the chance to do the 'rated G' show twice under two different names
and the chance to see my creative sign from the field!
