I don't remember if this has been posted, but it's a GREAT quick read about the storied history of BG hockey, written by Blue Jackets radio analyst Bill Davidge, who used to coach at Miami(OH). Definitely worth a read for those waxing nostalgic, and the new fan alike!!!

Wow. Until I read this article, I had no idea that Sean Pronger played for BG. Wow. I have much to learn, Obi Wan.

Sometimes I forget how fortunate I was to attend BG when I did. Many of the names on that list were college players when i was an undergrad (it also helped taking 6 years to complete my ed):

Pronger, Emerson, Parks, Dahl, Maia (Frenchie), Blake, Bylsma, Potvin, Harkins, Klee, De Vries (even though it was only for one year), Holzinger, Johnson.

Man, you want to talk some hockey.

Try to imagine being a Freshman in 1979-80 at BG........ The place was going nuts on that special day in Feburary 1980. I remember guys running up and down our hall at Rodgers screaming their heads off.

Getting a ticket to a hockey game back then (1979-1983) was damn hard. It was always a crowded house. Mrs. Tech and I disagree on this, but I say you had to have the sports pass, which would allow you to get a hockey ticket at the Anderson Ticket office. I use to buy mine from the girls who bought the sports pass, then would sell the tickets for $1 to $2. It was on a first come first serve basis. Mrs. Tech says she use to just show her student ID at the door. That may have been the case during my Freshman year, as I did not get to any games....... I was to busy being a drunk Freshman..... but by my Senior year, it was as I describe.

Not sure when this was, other than when BGFan went back to school ('83-'84 through '86....), students had to get a "ticket" to the games at the Anderson Arena ticket office early in the week. Not sure if they had a sports pass to show or just the ID, but you had to get those "tickets" early in the week to get into the games as a student, due to the limited seating and the sold-out status of every game. I know that we would line up outside the rink at 4 in the afternoon to get those prized Section A seats right on the glass (that was a LOT lower back then!!). Students also lined up verfy early at Anderson Arena on Monday and Tuesday mornings to get those tickets!! ....ah, the good old days.....

Back in 1974-77, we had to buy the sports passes and then go to AA to get a ticket.

And yes, I was one of those crazy people lined up at 4 to get in. You could line up at any door and they all opened at once. At that time you could still sit BEHIND the OPPONENT"S BENCH. That was our spot and some very creative heckling was done.

That's what I don't understand now- OLD FOGEY ALERT! We were able to harass the crap out of them - even making the coaches turn around and yell at us, but we never had to swear.

Forgot to thank you TG, for posting this!! I have read it before, but it was great to read it again!! Of that entire list of who's who, there are only a handful that I didn't see play....guess that means I am getting old, too!!! Great article!!! Even though the nay-sayers (cowboy, falconboy, are you listening?) don't believe it, Paluch IS working to turn this program around and get back to those days!!! It will happen people...IT WILL!!!!
