HEH! God I love it when we beat these bastards.

Even better, from what I was able to garner from Gametracker, we finally put it all together tonight. We got a PP goal, and seemed to be limiting the Egg Suckers' offensive opportunities. Their two goals were scored on the PP, which to me indicates that our defensemen did a MUCH better job tonight of locking down the blueline in our own offensive zone, thus limiting legitimate breakaway opportunities.

GREAT WIN FALCONS! THIS IS HOW TO DO IT!

It always feels great to beat the egg suckers - even without Ron Mason coaching them. Maybe the defense is finally getting it together. It was a good game tonight!!!!!! :D

Spratt looked pretty good tonight between the pipes, also. He seemed much more comfortable and composed and was seeing the puck well. The only mistake he made was trying to poke the puck away on their second PP goal, other than that he was solid in net.

It seemed to me like Spratt is feeling more confident between the pipes. For example, if I recall correctly on one of our powerplays he went to the corner to play the puck up. Maybe it's just a case of settling down in net.

What I really liked seeing was the checks being finished. Majority of the time we'd make a hit and it would stop any sort of rush MSU would muster.

There were times where we were on our heels, but many many more times when we had them on theirs.

Also, I may be crazy but it seemed like a couple of the new guys really had breakout games. Svendsen seemed to be strong on the puck, and Ralph appeared to be making smart decisions on defense.

It's good to end the conference games with a win before the break. Hopefully we can carry the momentum into next weekend and knock off Clarkson and SLU.

To sum it all up, Let's go BG! :D

It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Yes Svendson played a hell of a game tonight. Ralph also did quite well. It's great to see these freshman really contributing. It was also great to see the scoring distributed, the top line played well, but the other guys game through and lit the lamp for us. I was really impressed with the Whitmore-Dobek-Meloche line, they really showed some great hustle out there.

I think the fact the Sylvester and Tommy were on hand brought the team some good karma.

I agree, especially since Svendsen was playing with a sore foot/ankle. He was hit really hard by a puck in the Friday night game!! And Rich Meloche ALWAYS plays hard every shift. He's just one of those guys who, regardless of the ice time he gets, plays his butt off every shift.

Great effort by everyone tonight!!!!

I can't believe I almost forgot this little tidbit, but by far the funniest thing last night was during the second intermission when State was heading off the ice. MSU' s coach was livid about something and was really jawing at Piotrowski. We had a great view from sect. E of Pio ending the conversation by yelling "Oh F**k you!" to the coach as he left the ice. Way to put in him his place Pio!!

Great result there. Nice to get back in the W column....especially over MSU. I remember when I first got to BG in 86...started going to hockey games cuz I couldn't get into the bars until Feb '87 (Grandfather clause for 19 year olds  ). Never had been to a hockey game until I got to BG and found out real quickly how MSU was a hated team. Great games in the 80's and the Ice Arena was always so freakin loud when the Spartans were in town.

Great win, icers!

 HAHAHA!!! I groaned when I heard them announce Pi as the ref, because we usually don't fare well with him here, especially when we play a Michigan team. I thought Pi called a good game last night, though I can't say that for a lot of games I that he has refed (how DO you spell that??? :? ). Funny story, rc, thanks for sharing that!!!!

When it's a game Piotrowski is doing (and this also applies when a Shegos is present), I believe it is spelled: "effed." :P

Most encouraging 4-2 win.

The play of the Falcon's this weekend was much better. Both Horrell and Spratt had good outings and set the tone for the home and home against Michigan State.

The Svendson, Mazzei and Dobek line played exceptionally well last night, with Bales doing a fine job on the face-off. Defenseman Ralph's addition to the defense (only his 4th game) was a master stroke. His grittiness, speed and obvious skill complimented Falcon Captain Don Morrison very well.

The entire defense had a far better outing and matched State convincingly. Michigan State's # 12 Booth, #11 Bryan Lerg and #25 Jim McKenzie, all of whom had strong games Friday, were kept in check last night. Mckenzie and Lerg could only capitalize with the man down, getting State's two PP goals.

Falcon's keep up the good work and good luck for next weekends N/C games.
If you're ridin' ahead of the herd, take a look back now and then to make sure it's still there.
