Now to Georgia Tech’s credit, the last few years that they have made bowl games, they’ve played most of them out West which makes it hard to go for some, and they were hoping to get sent to Nashville for the Music City Bowl. And I understand that, it’s hard to travel across country and some can’t make it, or you want to go to a certain game. But then the other side of me thinks, stop crying about going to a bowl and enjoy it. You’re one of eight, count them, eight teams from the ACC that is going bowling, your team is going to be playing in a great city with lots to do and see, and at least your team is going to a bowl game and not sitting at home bowl eligible. As for whether or not they can go to the game or not, if worse comes to worse and they can’t make it in person, they can at least watch it on TV!!! It must be nice to be so “inconvenienced” by getting to play in this type of a bowl game……
Some ungrateful BCS-school fans
Some ungrateful BCS-school fans
My buddy, who works at Virginia, was down in Atlanta for the Virginia vs. Georgia Tech basketball game last night. Anyway, he said that during the game, it was announced to the Yellow Jacket faithful that Georgia Tech accepted a bid and was going to be playing in the Emerald Bowl out in San Francisco. What was the crowd’s reaction? They booed! Can you believe it, they actually booed. He said it was the loudest the crowd was all night for the game. I thought to myself, what a bunch of ungrateful fans. Here we are at schools like BG and NIU, bowl eligible and sitting at home with fans that would LOVE to be playing in a bowl, any bowl, and these fans are booing? You can’t be serious.

They probably feel they should be going to a better bowl given they're ranked #24, beat Auburn and Miami of Florida on the road, and lost a tough, close game to Georgia. They played a very tough schedule (OOC - Auburn, Georgia, and UConn) and don't feel rewarded for it.
They blew it when the lost to NC State at home.

you nailed it in the second paragraph. They figured they would be going to the either the Peach (which they would have been in had vt not choked on Saturday, but i don't feel any sympathy for them), Music City, or Charlotte. I probably would have booed too. But if they wanted a better bowl, then maybe they should try to sell out their stadium or at least travel to conference games. Their traveling fan base is pretty weak. I know they returned a lot of tickets to UVA.
They certainly had some good wins, but aside from losing to NC State, they also got crushed by Virginia Tech and lost to Virginia and Georgia, which are all good teams. But one of their wins was against Duke, does that count in football?
Seriously though, like you said BGSUVA, Tech doesn't travel well and they usually always have empty seats at home, unlike their neighbors over in Athens. There's nothing wrong with wanting to go to a bigger or better bowl. Would I rather see BG in the Fiesta or Rose bowl over the GMAC or Motor City? Hell ya! But to hear about an arena of boos for getting to go bowling in San Fran, come on.
I say this!!! I say let BG go in place of GT in the bowl game, and we'll give each and every GT fan that would have gone to the bowl game a ticket to go see one of the other bowl games in Nashville or Atlanta or Charlotte or wherever, without their team playing in it. Then, maybe they can understand the point trying to be made here.

Where the hell did THAT come from?hamjunior wrote:Can you imagine how the Michigan fans feel about playing against Nebraska in whatever bowl it is they are playing in. Oh my god the mighty Wolverines not playing for the national championship once again

No, you don't. And the second half of that statement explains why. I'd say that this is why we have an "other schools" forum, but even all the blabbering that goes on over there isn't as ignorant as that.hamjunior wrote: Do I really have to go on about possibly the worst fans of all time,
The "ungrateful BCS schools" comment was directly related to ONE school and comments made by THEIR fanbase about not getting the bowl they wanted and how the BG's and NIU's of the world would give anything to get one more game this year. It said nothing about Michigan or their fans, regardless of your opinion of them, and had no place in this thread.

96, I do understand exactly what the original post was trying to get across. I was just trying to add on that it is not only Georgia Tech but other schools that are very ungrateful about going to bowls who should be happy to be there in the first place. And by the way that is not the last time you will hear me use the University of Michigan in a negative way on this board.
