The BG News....what the hell?

Post by Flipper »

Hey look...I found a big mistake in the Sports section.... The AP generated the story, but it appears correctly elsewhere online....

Akron (7-5), coming off its first MAC title, earned its first Division I-A bowl berth with its 31-30 win over Northern Illinois on Dec. 1. Memphis (6-4), second to former MAC member Central Florida in Conference USA’s East Division, will be playing in a bowl for the third year in a row. The Tigers beat Bowling Green 52-35 a year ago in the GMAC Bowl.

Are you serious? If so, someone should be expelled.

If the AP ran it originally, I don't think the BG News is allowed to edit it at all.

But if that's the case, don't run it at all.

What's wrong with that?

That and we aren't run by the school. We can put whatever we want wherever we want.

This is true. I seem to remember a front page picture of the Snooze one year had an interesting picture (which was edited for vulgarity).

Background: LAGA (Lesbian And Gay Alliance) had a specific day where a person was instructed to wear jeans if you support their message. To put this in context that would be like saying, "drink something today if you support the war." Back then, a person had two items of clothing to cover their lower extremities: sweat pants and denim.

On the cover was a lad standing in front of the Union. He had long, blond hair, and was wearing ripped jeans. His t-shirt said, "Hey LAGA! [expletive] off and have a nice day."

I wore sweatpants that day, I believe.

Come on, the AP has better things to do then check the accuracy of the facts it reports regarding last years GMAC bowl. Accurate facts regarding a MAC school? No time for that, the #7 SEC team is playing the day after tomorrow. Hey, at least they got the teams right, stop complaining.
