Thanks for the link. It also included next years schedule (or at least who will be home and away and the cross-overs)
A LOOK AHEAD
2006 SCHEDULE
Nonconference
• Sept. 2: Wisconsin at Cleveland Browns Stadium
• Sept. 16: at Fla. International
• Sept. 23: Boise State
• Oct. 7: at Ohio State
MAC games
(Dates to be announced)
• Home: Buffalo, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Miami
• Away: Akron, Central Michigan, Ohio, Toledo
Also, some indication that Deaudre Perry may be coming back
"Brandon said he will explore junior college recruits for defensive backs and kickers. Another DB probably wouldn't be necessary if safety Deaudre Perry's status were known. Perry, who started eight games before quitting the team for unspecified personal reasons, has left school. Brandon said he thinks Perry is re-enrolling in the spring and reiterated Perry is welcome back."

That's a rough road MAC sked. All the home games are assumed creampuffs except the skinhawks.
Still no game in the Doyt until late Sept.

Ooooohh good point -- that would be sweet and would certainly help attendance. I suppose since we had the early MAC game on the road at muncie this year, it stands to reason we could have an early home game next season. Of course, since the MAC scheduling office likes to screw us every chance they get, I'm not counting on it

The (Graduated) "OU Falcon"
I like Winovich - a lot. But he had the opportunity to step up last year and didn't make a big impact. While big for a linebacker, he's smallish for a DE (cue falconboy), though he has good size for a TE. But don't we have, like, a gazillion TEs on the roster already?
And we would appear to still lack depth at LB.
And Perry. Geez, what the heck? Another guy I like (and Noah really likes) that just can't keep it together. He's a difference maker at safety and would love to see him in uniform. But Brandon has to decide if he's going to make it or not. You can't have a guy dropping out at mid-season like that.
As for the schedule, we knew it would be a killer. No surprise there.
I'd bet a shiny nickel that we get a MAC home game on Sept. 9 and that's the game I'm going to target for our roadie. I want to be at the first MAC home game - we are going to make some noise for that one. Looking into the crystal ball, I'd say Buffalo or Eastern.

Notice this article focused alot on the players already known to everyone. Expect some of the younger unknown guys to step up and claim some spots. I hear there are some good ones and if the older guys don't step up there are others willing and capable of stepping in. I believe the talent will be there. Hopefully, the talent is properly prepared and used.
Eastern already has an OOC game on 9/9. Buffalo has four teams set up, but for some reason does not have dates on any of their OOC games for next year. Here is my guess at a schedule. Keep in mind, that with the 12 game schedule, you can only have one weeknight game and fit 12 games into 13 weeks of schedule time.1987alum wrote:I'd bet a shiny nickel that we get a MAC home game on Sept. 9 and that's the game I'm going to target for our roadie. 9/2 WISCONSIN @ CBS
9/9 KENT
9/16 @ Florida Intl.
9/23 BOISE STATE
9/30 @ Ohio
10/7 @ Ohio State
10/14 EASTERN MICHIGAN
10/21 @ Central Michigan
10/28 BUFFALO
11/4 @ Akron
11/11 MIAMI
11/21 (Tues) @ Toledo
I did this after looking at other teams schedules. The only possible MAC game on 9/9 are @ Ohio, KENT, and BUFFALO. Ohio still needs one OOC game, Kent needs two, and Buffalo has four, but no dates. And for 9/30, the available games are @ Akron, @ Ohio, EMU, and Buffalo. Akron still needs two more OOC games, and EMU needs one as well.
The thing I like about this schedule is November. We would get the defending MAC champs, our biggest home MAC game and then, of course, that team up North. That is as good a strech of three games that we could hope for at that time of year, from a fan perspective.

A sure sign that Brandon is not doing an A#1 job at recruiting. It drives my husband crazy when his team has JuCo transfers. They weren't good enough to get Division I scholarships to begin with. So why do we want them???PGY Tiercel wrote:

Obviously Winovich was a disappointment if the coach is talking about moving him out of a position where we are already thin. I agree that TE would be the first thought, but we do have some depth there. He seems a little too small for DE, and we have some depth there with Williams, Parks, and Briggs. Not many other places to go, so I will throw out WR. We are thin there and Ruiz made the move from TE to WR this year. Winovich isn't quite as big as him so I am gonna say WR.1987alum wrote:I like Winovich - a lot. But he had the opportunity to step up last year and didn't make a big impact.
