One other thing re JUCO DB's...this is another issue raised by the tough first year Brandon had recruiting. Right off the top of my head, I can think of three pretty wll regarded DB's who aren't here now (Robinson, Perry and Browning). Then you had Simonton (another JUCO) bolt on us after last year.

Hopefully, the guys from last year like Smith, Lewis and Wiley will continue to develop and we'll stop moving DB's to LB so we can get some stabilty back there again

What is the deal with guys like Alexander leaving? I was really looking forward to seeing him play after the spring game. Is this normal for football programs or are we just getting unlucky with some of our highly touted recruits? Someone help me understand?

I understand the attending class thing. I also can sympathize with the time committment football demands and how that can be difficult to balance it with academics. But come on...is it really all that tough? Especially when you're just trying to remain elegible. It's not like the college requires all A's and B's to accomplish this.

Well i decided to re look at Winovich's bio sheet and what about moveing him to QB? As a QB he had 2 undefeated regular seasons and was 30-5 as a starter. His stats were 2,233 passing yards and 20 TDs his senior year and for his career they were 4,421 passing yards 44 TD's tossed completed 234 passes and ran for 15 TD's. But here is the thing that gets me he was a 3 year starter at both QB and Outside Linebacker and had for his career 144 tackles 3 sacks 3 forced fumbles and 3 int's. So i am not sure as why he is haveing the problmes he had this year at LB

Personally, I think Winovich's problems at OLB have a lot to do with quickness. He undoubtedly had the speed & quickness at the high school level, but may not have it at the D-IA college level. Our defense is predicated on quickness and pursuit, so if he's not quite there speed-wise, that's a real problem.

I like the kid - a lot. I just hope we find the right spot for him before his eligibility is burned up.

Well 87 you might be right but i just re looked up on rivals about him and they had him listed as 4.5 in the forty if that actually correct so you would think he would have the speed for the college game.

Cool to see 10 of the 12 games being played in Ohio.

This is a reach, but how sweet would it be to be 5-0 and ranked heading into the OSU game?

I don't think that's accurate....I recall seeing another site in the past day or so (Insiders?) that had him at 4.7.

A 4.5 LB/QB with his size would have drawn much earlier and intense interest than a late greyshirt from Penn State and a possible offer from Notre Dame.

Not sure if date for Floria International is correct. On link below from their site, they have the game as being on FRIDAY 9/15. Don't buy those tickets until you are sure. We are going down on Wed and staying through Sun and making it a mini vacation so Friday or Saturday is good. http://www.fiusports.com/football/releases/081405.htm See you there (taking the in-laws also so 3 of 4 are graduates - mother-in-law, wife, and myself).

That would be very interesting if accurate. It could mean several things. 1).This game might be on TV B) Maybe they are playing this Game on friday so that the BSU game the next week would be played on a Thursday (9/21) or Friday (9/22) for TV coverage
III) There would likely be no game on 9/9 since it would be very hard to play on Saturday, then turn around and play on Friday cosidering at least one travel day is needed.

Edit, Of course that information is from August 15th. It might have changed by now, and the release from the Blade is newer.

Looking at new post from Floria International, game will be on Saturday 9/16. Looks like they have as tough OCC as we do with Miami, Alabama, Maryland and South Florida. Should be a good game and not a "easy" win. They won 4 of their last 5 and it will be their home opener. http://www.fiusports.com/football/releases/120605.htm Join us and show that we can have a good following at an away game that would also show a potential bowl that we can put fans in the seats.
