Northwestern Beats Ohio State!

You know, I love BG, and I don't mind Ohio State, but I loved seeing Northwestern beat Ohio State tonight for one reason. For all those ignorant and annoying OSU fans that think the Buckeyes are God's gift to football. After BG beat NW in the Motor City Bowl last year, so many OSU fans were saying how cheap of a win it was for BG because it was just NW. Well OSU, how do you like Northwestern now?!?!

BG's beaten those Wildcats twice in the last three previous seasons, once in Evanston and again in a bowl game. How has OSU done against little old NW lately? It will be curious to see how Ohio State does against Purdue later this season....a team BG also beat on the road last season.

I'm not saying BG is better than OSU. But I am saying BG can play and has earned the RESPECT by many that a lot of OSU fans have not taken notice to. It makes nights likes this fun to not be a Buckeye.

As a die hard Ohio State fan, I must say we finally got a reality check. I may have been one of the few OSU fans having doubts about the away night game that Andy Geiger always schedules while he always forgets to schedule a home night game (1 in every 6 years doesnt count) But anyhow, much credit to Northwestern tonight, they played their a$$e$ off! Im really not as bitter as I thought I would be, because life goes on and upsets happen.
And also, Mr. Mike Metzger, my buddy (sometimes, lol) Michigan will lose two more games, @Purdue and @OSU, sorry to say it but Purdue will be the big ten champs and your maize and barf will not be national champs this year...however when henne and hart are seniors..you may have a shot.

Owell, its been a long day, nice win for BG today, keep rollin against CMU and lets all pray NIU gets a couple losses!! Night Everyone

Hey, you don't need to bring me into this Brandon. I'm not rubbing it in your face that Northwestern beat OSU like you did with ND beating Michigan. Purdue will probably win the Big Ten and that's fine. As long as OSU doesn't, I'm a happy person

About that Michigan/OSU game...I'll wait until after the game to brag. Sorry, but Michigan still has the 2nd best receiving core in the nation (behind the Falcons of course) and OSU won't be able to stop it. No they haven't performed well yet but by the time the OSU game rolls around, it'll be on.

This game illustrates why teams run the spread. You can effectively move the ball against a team with better athletes. Call it a gimmick if you will, but it can be a very effective offense when executed properly.

Now that I've slept some, I can laugh at the Buckeyes...it's a new day to me! HAHAHAHA! Brandon, ND beating Michigan is alright in my book. They aren't as bad of a team as everyone plays them out to be. They beat Mich. State and Washington the following two weeks! I knew they wouldn't come out and D-rail the Boilermakers but they are still a good team. Northwestern however barely beat Kansas for their only other win besides the one against those peanut butter balls with the chocolate coating yesterday. Minnesota has been their only respectable loss this year, what a pathetic team. I love it when OSU loses! Buck the *%$keyes!

Northwestern may be a "pathetic" team, but you can throw the records out when a team plays with the emotion they played with last night. I only watched the first half, so I can't speak for the entire game, but NW clearly played with more emotion than OSU and really wanted to win last night. I thought they completely dominated the Buckeyes in that half and they looked like a middle-of-the-pack Big Ten team (as opposed to being a perennial cellar dweller). I doubt it, but maybe this win will get us a little more respect for the MC Bowl win. Either way, it is great to see OSU lose.

I've been saying all along that I thought OSU would lose at least 1 or 2 games before the Michigan game, but damn I didn't think it would be Northwestern!

It was clear they just wanted it more. You don't very often see a Jim Tressel team come out flat, and you certainly don't see them get outcoached very often. Last night was one of those times.

couple of things.... Northwestern is better than the record shows. They average around 400 yards of offense a game. they have had problems on Defense all year. they just havent been able to come up on top of the shootouts. with the exception of minnesota i never did see the final score to that one.

second. thats why games are played on the field and not paper. anything can happen on any day. get your laughs in now, cos the big ten is a long ways from being decided still. Ohio State isnt out of it, and they arent out of a national title hopes. they still play wisconsin, Purdue, Michigan. They still play all the teams who are serious contenders for the big ten title except minnesota and hopefully purdue or michigan will take care of them. its not over its just a bump in the long road that is left to be traveled.

third. you guys complain alot about how you hate ohio state and you base it on their a$$hole fans? ohio state has one of the largest fan bases in the country millions of fans and alumni all over the country and you have a handful who give BG crap and no respect. everybody has fans like that...just like we dont respect the Tennesee Tech's or the Liberty's who have had to come to the Doyt and get slaughtered. I am a big BG fan but i am also die hard buckeyes fan, and it is possible to be both whether the majority of you think it is or not when you are from columbus and were raised on scarlet and grey, but all i can say is get over it. The majority of osu fans are not a$$holes and do cheer for BG and smaller schools. BG always gets a cheer at OSU games when the score updates flash on the side scoreboards

. always. so dont hate them because a few bad apples give you crap. it happens everywhere and thats a dumb reason. oh well. everyone hates a winner. it is not their fault that the MAC is not a BCS conference and that right now we (BG) have no chance at a BCS bowl or national title even though they should be. Miami (OH) could have probably given it a nice shot against LSU or oklahoma or USC.

from now on just ignore handful of ignorant osu fans, cos ignorant fansd exist with every team and yes, even at BG :rant:

finally..NIU loses two games including one to Toledo, we beat Toledo and meet Northwestern in the MCB and beat them again for the third time in a row.

everyone hates a winner

The reason I hate Ohio State is not because they are good or because of their a-hole fans. I dislike the mentality that they are THE Ohio State University and all the other piddly schools in Ohio are just fleas on their ass. I dislike the fact that just because I grew up in Ohio I should fall back on supporting Ohio State despite having zero connection to the school at all. I find it odd in NW Ohio people who have no affiliation to either UMich or tOSU are such avid fans. I am all for regionalism on the pro level but collegiately I feel you should have more of a connection type thing. .. Of course that is just my opinion and I felt like sharing it to counter the feeling that we all hate the great evil Ohio State because they always win. . .

I agree 100% with that. I dont get how people are so crazed about those 2 programs either. I was born and raised, and still live in ohio, My entire extended family are buckeye fans save 1 cousin on my dad's side. And they act like I have an extra arm or something when I remind them/tell them I am avidly NOT an osu fan. It's like if you dont like thier team, you are obviously inferior to them.

I have a friend that I met a feww weeks ago, and we we talking tonite about that game. And when they realized that I didnt like osu, that I was glad they lsot, they told me that I just dropped a lot on thier "list" and that we cant talk ever again! Now seriously, I LOVE my falcons, but osu fans need to lighten up, after all its jsut a game/school that most of them have not and will never attend or have any ties to in any way other than being born in the same state, which by their own definition emans they should all me OU fans, sicne its the oldest university this side of the appalation mountains....

Also, how can you like a school that SUED another in-state school b/c they used the state's name in their school name (ohio university). Yes thats right, osu thought it would detract from them if another school used the word ohio in thier title, I guess it didnt matter that Ou was established first.....

I disagree. It is not possible to like the BG and the buckeyes. As a die hard Michigan fan 2nd to BG, I will never like the buckeyes. Sorry to prove your theory wrong but it will just never happen in my case.
