Along the lines of the basses "bong" visual, in 03, 3 snares who where not playing because Ross and Erin were doing the tap dance thing for the muppet show, stood right on the 45 yard line in front, and not only did the bong visual, but we passed it down the line.........I remember Kent Vandock having a hard time keeping a straight face. Once in '01, the snare line entered the field with our right pant leg pulled up and walked with a "ghetto limp." Let's see, another time in '01 the snares finished a show up front on the 50 and spelled a dirty word with our sticks.
And my favorite memory was during a rehearsal in '01, the day before homecoming. It was raining almost horizontally and yet Dr. Toney had us outside cleaning drill (actually, still learning it if I remember correctly) but anyway, the entire drumline was huddled in an amoeba-like formation under our section leader's giant umbrella as we moved around the fieled to our general location. Then Dr. Toney, in his neverending vagueness, said, "ahhh, percs, I think there is something wrong with your drill...." I thought to myself, man he is pretty swift, I don't know if I would have caught that if I were up on the scaffolding.
The list goes on......

Yes, the Euphs are funny. However no one else seems to get/understand Euph Humor. In terms of 'Haha, everyone gets it' funny, I think the percs win.
Jeff, there was a lot that happened during that rehearsal in '01. Man that rehearsal sucked. Think we should have just done a Park and Blow for that show.
Sorry, I don't remember much in the way of funny performance happeings. I'm normally too focused to notice a lot of what is going on around me. About the only thing I can recall is when we first did the Bohemeain Rhapsody show at home last year, and I caught myself listening to the crowd sing along. Got me messed up and off step.

Some things never change. A couple of historical items from the the Baritone line that were soooooo funny for them but no one else got it:goofyeuph wrote:Yes, the Euphs are funny. However no one else seems to get/understand Euph Humor.
"RIDE ME LIKE A BRONCO!" (during a trip to WMU, of course)
They all wore orange socks on gameday morning. Hmmmmmm.

Some things DO never change... I believe they go to Ben Franklin's every gameday morning after euph breakfast and all buy something ridiculous to wear at morning practice together..... be it Mardis Gras beads, cardboard pirate hats, or huge plastic sunglasses....Rightupinthere wrote:They all wore orange socks on gameday morning. don't forget in 02 when dr toney wanted to have an outside rehearsal... but there was like, 6 inches of snow on the ground. then dr moss decided to take a shovel and start shoveling the snow off the field. yeah, that wasn't too affective.
quite funny though.
oh, and that same rehearsal was the one with the quiggleys where we all threw snowballs at them. that rocked!

One of the funny moments from last year was Jason Sivil's drill for the Halloween show. He had forgotten to put Tom Crawford in the drill with the trombones, so he marched with the mellos...introducing the Mellobone!
During my freshman year ('03), Jason wrote a lot of backwards marching drill for the fliccs..at some precarious intervals for the fliccs. I remember at the Troy performance of the Latin heat show (during the OSU trip, when we did 3 marching shows and 1 skull session in 2 days) we had a line of fliccs go down...not funny but we all survived.
That same year we were practicing the Frontiers show in the field house and the fliccs were doing one of our many backwards marches at a decent tempo. Two of the flags had to pass through us, but we had the timing down okay without any problems. At one rehearsal, the pass through went okay, but the timing was off just enough that the flag hit me right on the head.....ouch. It definitely echoed, or at least it did to me. It did hurt, but now I think it's funny. The colorguard member felt really bad and gave me a Snickers the next day as an apology.

Not funny at the TIME, you mean... I didn't actually see it as I was on the front of the field, and it wasn't (thank God) caught on video... but I start giggling every time I picture four or five exhausted fliccs tripping over each other while backward marching and just going down like dominoes during a performance....Falconfliccbone wrote: we had a line of fliccs go down...not funny but we all survived.

Euphoniums??? Funny??? I think ANNOYING is a better word!
However, I think some of the percs in recent years (not all them, but a select few) have gone from funny to just plain disruptive and disrespectful. I don't really think there was a funniest section in the band this year.
