2006 BG Baseball Schedule?

Post by BGSU33 »

Anyone have any idea what our 2006 baseball schedule looks like? I see a lot of schools across the country are starting to release their schedules and was curious what BG's is shaping up like. With some teams starting baseball as early as late January/early February, it's hard to imagine the college baseball season isn't too far away.

The reason our schedule is not posted yet is that the schedule for the Spring Trip was just changed by the "powers" at the IMG Academy, so I am sure it will be available as soon as they feel comfortable that it is a "final" down there.

Thanks for the info....I'm looking forward to seeing the schedule and catching some games this season. Man would it be nice to see BG get back into a Regional this year!

One thing that schedule is sorely lacking is games in Arizona...

Well, they do have games in Kentucky, but they're in Murray again like last season. Murray is close to 4 1/2 to 5 hour drive from Lexington.

I like UK's baseball stadium, didn't they renovate or build it recently? I saw it when I was there two years ago, it's pretty nice. I also saw UK baseball on TV a few times, I remember watching them beat LSU last year in a game they won in Lexington. I watched a college baseball show with UK's head coach and he talked about the challenges of being the coach at UK in the SEC. He talked about how competiting in the SEC was, obviously, very difficult, but how in recent years, instead of going after the same southern kids the rest of the SEC schools were mostly recruiting making UK a "nothern" school in the SEC, that UK was now strongly recruiting nothern kids to come south to play at UK. It will be interesting to see if it works well, because in the SEC, every single one of those schools you are competing against are NCAA Regional bid type teams. The SEC in baseball is just loaded with talented teams and players and has some outstanding college baseball stadiums.

I think they did renovations to it. It is very nice. I haven't been in it yet, but in the summer I usually park my car by it. Keep meaning to leave work early one day and go to a game. But you are deffinetly right about UK having a hard time in the SEC.

I see the schedule is posted again, now it's on the front page. Is anyone going back down to Florida this year? If so, it would be cool to get some reports like last year.

What if I was to make the trip across state to Murray to report? Would that suffice?

That'll do! Nothing like an extra season-opening scoop from a BG fan on the baseball team from the Bluegrass State. After working with college baseball the last six years, I am going to miss not being involved with it this season. Oh well, maybe that will give me a chance to see more games for fun in person then.
GO BG!!!
