TIME TO FIRE DAKICH AND GET A REAL COACH!

Post by cbjhack »

I know that it has been said before, but it is time to fire Dakich! He was great in the beginning and has lost total contral of the team. When you are losing players to transfers and flunking out, and aren't bringing in the best players needed to succeed in the MAC, it is time for a change. I say that if he doesn't make it to Cleveland this year, then he is done. But to spare us the pain and agony, Krebs needs to pull the plug now.

Whoa there mister caps lock. No need to shout

I think he'll probably be done when his contract runs out. I can't really see the department extending it. I have no idea as to the exact time frame that is, or possible buyout amounts. Anybody got the contract dish?

You are exactly right, he is our coach until contract runs out. This is the way it is at BG unless they quit or recieve a different job. We should just support the team and forget about firing the coach, unfotunately he is ours till the day his contract is up.

Please not another FIRE DAKICH thread. Between 'Fire Dakich' threads and 'A List of Everyone Who Has Left' threads, it's getting really hard to even read most of these forums.

If you want the university to fire Coach Dakich, here is all you have to do -

Put your money where your mouth is. Come up with the money to buy out the remaining time on his contract, set-up a meeting with Paul Krebs to give him the money to give to Dan, and you might get your wish.

Let me see if I'm following you on this point. You contend that if BG doesn't make it to Cleveland, which really means BG has to win a first round campus site game or get a bye into the second round of the MAC tournament, then he can stay. Is that what you're saying, because I think Dakich has "made it to Cleveland" (the Seagate as well?) every year, except for may be his first year at BGSU. Why is it that he has to "make Cleveland" this year more than ever for you and yet every year minus one he has accomplished this exact feat he seems to gets no credit?

Geez he is really on the hot seat if making it to the quarterfianls saves his job. I could some what agree with most of what you said but why does making it to Cleveland make any difference?

I think thats too much to say he should be fired. Even with all of the bad luck with injuries and transfers, we have still been competitive (maybe more than what we should have been). I think this year will be tough because of all the new faces. I would like to see what he does with this group over the next few years. When people stay they do end up pretty successful in the program. And yes, he has made it to either the Seagate or Cleveland every year except the first.

As a Falcon fan, I would love nothing more than to have DD turn the program around and take us into the NCAA tourney. I'd love for anyone to do it, but I'd really love for it to be him.

If it isn't going to be that way, then it isn't going to be that way.

I agree. I like Coach D a lot and he's had some good success. Let's remember how BG got screwed a few years they should have been in the NCAA field. And his kids earn their degrees....a pretty important thing in college athletics.

Well, if he's not a real coach, do we have to fire him? I mean, if he's simply a figment of our imaginations and not real, I don't think there's any legal need for a termination of services. In fact, perhaps this is a brilliant strategy by Krebs - employ a virtual (or "fake," if you will) coach and save the athletic department tens of thousands of dollars. After all, if the coach isn't "real," I can't imagine we're paying him.

Sounds reasonable, doesn't it?

Which further begs the question: if Coach D. farts in the woods and no one is there to hear or smell it, did he ever really fart in the first place?

And then we can take the money we are saving by not paying a basketball coach and use it for the Sebo Center.

Brilliant idea '87!

Coach K didn't make it to the NCAA tournament until his 9th year as a head coach. Yep and even Duke alumns and fans were calling for his head. I'm not saying that Dakich is coach K but come on. All of these fire the coach threads are getting annoying to read.
