Former BG Student Scores 13 Against Toledo

Post by Tswam »

Toledo Scott grad and former BGSU student Dennis Springs went for 13 points and 7 assists last night in Ferris State's loss to Toledo. Springs is averaging 18 points and 7 assists for D2 Ferris State. Springs attended BG as a freshman but wanted the opportunity to play college ball so he transferred to Ferris.

Springs is 5'6".

Any idea why he didn't try to walk-on?

I don't coach liked his height. Who knows though. I know Duke was scouting him until they found out how tall he was.

I'd just like to also add, he dunked on me at the rec one day. It took the whole semester of living next door to me for me to convince him to just go to the rec and let me see if he really could, but he did, and I got laughed at.

I saw him play a few times when he was in HS at Scott. He's a very good PG, extremely quick and tenacious defensively. I was suprised nobody recruited him even if he is just a tad bigger than my 4 year old.

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the height issue...so DD will recruit guys in the 5'-9" range like Kris Wilson and Moon, but 5'-6" is too short? Like some 6ft guard is gong to say, "I'd post up on Moon, but he's 5'-9"....if only he were 5'-6""

I heard he passed on playing at BG out of respect for Howard Chambers.
