Here's a thought that goes along with only playing when you're told to:

STOP PLAYING AY ZIG IN THE MIDDLE OF GO BG AND VICE VERSA!

So they sound vaguely okay with each other. TOTALLY NOT THE POINT! Either play what's written, or don't play. It's frustrating to your sectionmates, and it's frustrating to the crowd, because they can't tell what you're playing.

I disagree with this. Not saying to play Ay-Zig during Go BG, but I often play stuff that may not be written (i.e. high notes) and as long as they are in good taste I think it is fine. However, there is a certain member of the trumpet section that tries to show off by "squealing" on the 5th of every frickin' chord, and that drives me nuts. If you're going to play high, only play the root of the chord, and MAYBE occassionally the 3rd, but NEVER squeal on the 5th!!!

I just have to say that nothing can ever be more irritating that Hey Yeah crap the trobones pulled for the previous two seasons. Play whatever you want...but when you have something like that to say....maybe it is better when you boner is pressed to your lips!!

Woo Yeah has become a small tradition for them which is good. At least they have a few small traditions within their section, something which this whole university is missing right now.

To all of you non-music majors, I'd like to preface this by saying "I'm sorry."

I guess its better than sqealing on the 2nd. Or when a brass player is going up an arpeggio and doesn't quite hit the octave at the top and gets that flat 7th instead. You know what I'm talking about. OK, adios.

Just for clarification...the occasional squealy high note doesn't bother me. I don't do it...but more power to those who are brave enough and do.

However...the whole playing Ay Zig in the middle of Go BG is just downright not cool. Yay to whoever figured out that it fits...but give me a break guys!

On another note...the Woo Yeah thing is actually kind of amusing...and sadly, they didn't do it a lot this season. I always thought it was a signature kind of thing for the bones. We even honored them on our euph shirts last year!

Hey! *slightly insulted* I happen to be a biology major, but I understood every word of that. Just 'cause we're not crazy doesn't mean we're stupid.

Read it more closely and you'll see that's just exactly what I was implying.
