Question about the Sebo construction delay
Question about the Sebo construction delay
I know the construction on the Sebo was delayed because of issues dealing with high bids and the cost of materials, etc. But I was wondering if anyone knows if they ended up scaling back from the original design in any areas, or if they decided to use different materials to get the costs down, or if they ended up getting a better bid from another company to complete the proposed design? I was just curious if they are sticking to the designs we all have seen in the artist renderings or if we’re going to see a different looking building once it’s completed? I’m hoping they were able to stay as close to what the renderings show, that building looked awesome.

I have read (here I think) that they are going to make sure the building looks as much like the drawings/concepts as orginially planned.

In a quote from the article
“Some of the original estimates came in higher than we thought they would so we went back to the architects and said, ‘How can we save some construction costs here?’” Waring said.
In an effort to save money, changes were made to the initial construction plans.
“We asked that they look at some of the materials that were going to be used in the building,” Waring said. “So in sense, we are trying to save in terms of building costs.”
As a result, about $1 million was knocked off of the original estimated cost making the total cost of the Sebo Center around $8.7 million.
