BG is the lowest MAC team and 301 overall (out of 334). Using these ratings, the only MAC games we will win are Central and Eastern at home. Not good.

Sweet! Using these ratings, Villanova is going to win the National Championship. Would someone be so kind as to place bet on 'Nova when they go out to Vegas next?

Considering Villinova is undefeated and currently ranked 3rd in the country, the Sagarin rating doesnt seem to be too far off. The Sagarin ratings change as teams win and lose games, right now it is not unreasonable to think they have the #1 Sagarin rating.

Cool, I see you like the type of extrapolations WH and consequently I made from the Sagarin ratings. I'll make you a deal, you can have Villanova and I'll take the rest of the field for the NCAA tournament and we'll see how it turns out.

The sarcastic point I was trying to make was that as bad as BG may seem to be right now or how good Villanova may seem, it's a long season and a lot can change before March. All of the polls are obviously going to have BG very low since they only have one D1 win thus far, but why make more out of a poll by making the prediction that BG will only win two games at home all year or by similar extension saying that 'Nova will win it all. Both predicitions are equally ludicrous to make based on what Mr. Sagarin has to say in his computer poll.

True, that makes sense. The Sagarin is not for predictions just a current ranking system.

I look at it as a GREAT reason to go to VEGAS, because we are going to win alot more games than we are expected to win as of today!!!

I don't know the Sagarin formula. It's proprietary. However, I'm doubting that we have enough observations at this point in the season for Sagarin to really mean anything. I do know this: DD coached teams don't finish at 301. DD coached teams don't finish last. He'll find a way to wring something out of this team. The ability is there.
