Not to be selfish, but Boise losing their coach at this point of the year might be a small positive for BG, since we catch them pretty early next season. Hey, gotta look for the positives where you can find them!

I've actually read in several places that as highly as Hawkins is regarded and generally he's been shifted a lot of the success of the Dirk Boettner era in Boise, the real brains behind the Blue Grass Machine might actually be Offensive Coordinator Chris Peterson, who would automatically inherit the job if Hawkins were to bolt.

weren't the same things said around here a few years ago, with Gregg Brandon in place of Chris Peterson and Urban Meyer in place of Dan Hawkins?

Does that mean that Dirk Boettner is Gary Blackney?

With all the coaching changes growing each year, I am surprised it took 5 years for Hawkins to get this chance. He seems like he knows what he is doing. Yeah it might be the Off. Coord. why Boise has done so well, but Hawkins must know how to hire great assistants. I hope he gets the CU job and is successful. Boise will be tough no matter who is coaching.

People said it was Brandon's offense. I don't think anyone thought he was "the brains" behind the operation.

"Bender, what if your dope was on fire?"

"Impossible sir...it's in Johnson's underwear."

Great movie there....ah, the 80's.

I think Boise will still be a solid program if Hawkins moves on. I like the way they do things out there. Hawkins is a fine coach.

Per ESPN the Radio and ESPN.com . . . Those who make the decisions on hiring football coaches at Colorado are said to "favor" Hawkins. Apparently an offer is not too far off.

Interestingly enough, senile Beano Cook was on Colin Cowherd today during my lunch break and Beano said that he would not consider Colorado "among the top 30 jobs in America" citing its status as a top state school with no HS football tradition or past filled with developing HS superstars and having to rely too heavily on California and Texas for recruits.

He did list in no particular order as his top 12: Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Ohio State, Nebraska, USC, Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Notre Dame (saying its the "easiest" place to win in America) and Miami ("only b/c its in Florida")

All I can say is that if it happens good for hawkins, but as for me our game wont be the same this year and if we win it wont be as sweet, close but not quite.

Hawkins is in at Colorado per espn.com.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2259394

I think it's a step up in conference, but a lateral move as far as the program goes. Of course, I thought the same thing when Urban left for Utah.
