Some food bloggers got together over the Raya holidays for another pig-out. No reason really….just the longing for company and good food and oh my…the good food part never disappoints. Everytime when there’s a gathering like this, it’s sure to be a visual feast of all things yummy in my posts. But I feel, pictures speak louder than words of what was offered and you wouldn’t want lengthy explanations of everything that happened.

This time around there were more people and the theme of the gathering was ‘tapas’ or rather small-portioned finger foods. Doesn’t have to be authentically Spanish, just small portions that you can pick up with your fingers. We managed to do quite well this time around, meaning there were very little leftovers and more empty plates. Always a compliment to the cook. Our lovely host was again Swee San who did a fantastic job with the setting. The last gathering was also at her house.

We’re food bloggers, of course there would
a round of photo-snapping of all the dishes…
So to the usual break-down of the menu. I’m not gonna write much description this time but rather just group the dishes according to the respective creators. I wonder if these ladies would ‘taruh‘ (scold) me for secretly paparazzi-ing them, which is why a lot of them looked so serious or were looking down because the candid shots were either of them prepping their dishes or taking pictures on the main table. I’ll start with your’s truly to get the ball rolling;
Looks like ordinary meatballs but
surprise on the inside!! Scotch quail’s eggs with
chilli mango chutney sauce (bottle)
Caramelised Onion Mayo and Cream Cheese Dip or Spread with Crackers
Pancetta wrapped prawns with Gorgonzola sauce
Potato Skins, eaten with Pickled Jalapenos,
Sour Cream and Guacamole
Poached pear, blackcurrant and milk chocolate entremetΒ
Dolma (Grape Leaves) with stuffing of
rice and minced beef
Thai Appetizer; Mieng Kham Kadok.
You put everything in the leaf,
wrap it up and eat it in one shot.
YUM!
Pork and Chicken Meatballs with Homemade Yoghurt
Thank you, ladies for the awesome dishes and the wonderful company, thanks to Swee San for hosting. It’s always great to get together with all of you and I hope there’ll be one soon again….although I don’t know when with my second one coming. π

Very nice meeting you, I didn’t even know there was a theme. ;P Sorry I only brought 1 item cos a bit last min. Love your scotch eggs, need to learn to make them. π
No worries lah Yen…the theme was more just to determine the portion of dishes but your yummy brownies fit right in. Nvm if you brought one item only, no hard and fast rules against the number of dishes. Glad you loved the scotch eggs.
not fair your profile pic is nicest.. haha the rest of us look so uber serious
Haha!! I just waiting only to see who would taruh me. π Not to say nice lah…i don’t have many self shots of my face. It was hard to get a good angle when you’re secretly taking shots of everyone.
haha kidding la.. its ok la my pic no double chin LOL
oh didn’t know you were secretly photographing us.. sneaking you π this gathering is so much more fun than eating out.
Haha, I used my zoom and stand far far away. Yes, it’s more fun like this because we can talk as loud as we want about anything.
Ahhh….. any other better shots of me?
I look like I’m constipating, hahaha
not constipating, it is the look of a serious cook in action. π
hahah!
looks like you guys had such a great feast! and thanks for the nutella palmier recipe, it looks like a really quick and simple recipe I can play with this weekend π
Hi Janine, too bad u weren’t there, would’ve love to meet you in person. Hope you’ll like the palmiers, it didn’t last very long in my house. Gone in 60 seconds. π
