10 Burnt To Death In Ife/Ibadan Highway Autocrash
No fewer than ten people including children were burnt beyond recognition in a ghastly road accident that occurred along Ile-Ife/Ibadan highway Sunday.
The accident that occurred at about noon involved a 18 seater passengers bus with Lagos registration No: MUS 702 XH and a Diesel Laden tanker.
It was gathered that the driver of the Urvan bus who was said to be at high speed on his way towards Ibadan collided with the tanker that was making a U-turn.
One of the eyewitnesses, Tubosun Kola, who blamed both drivers for the accident noted that while it was wrong for the tanker driver to make a U-turn along highway, the bus driver would have saved the ugly situation if he had exercise caution in speed.
He also blamed the bus driver for trying to maneuver his bus and pass the tanker instead of applying brake to reduce the speed of the bus and reduce the impact of the collision.
According to him, the passengers in the bus made efforts to escape before the bus caught fire but could not open the door of the bus.
Sympathizers could not rescue the victims because of the difficulty encountered in opening the door of the bus coupled  with the impact of the fire.
Meanwhile, it was gathered that three passengers who survived the accident were taken to the Seventh-Day Adventist Private Hospital, but one of them was reported dead on arrival.
