2 Dead, Many Trapped As 3-Storey Building Collapses In Lagos
At least two people were yesterday killed when another three-storey building on Lagos Island collapsed on Democracy Day in Lagos leaving several others trapped.
The incident of building collapse that occurred Monday is the fourth building to have collapsed in Lagos in less than months.
It was learnt that the collapsed three-storey building was being renovated with people inside when it caved in on the workers.
As of the time of filling this rescue operation is still ongoing as emergency responders are working frantically to rescue trapped victims in the building located at Daddy Alaja Street, Oke Arin, Lagos Island, Lagos.
General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Adesina Tiamiyu who confirmed the building collapse said 14 people had so far been rescued alive.
He explained that two people had so far died in the collapsed building while rescue operation continued to rescue other trapped victims.
It will be recalled that a two-storey building collapsed at Cole Street Ebute Metta last week leaving a woman seriously injured.
Also three weeks ago, a three-storey building collapsed at Ilasamaja area of the state, with four people dead.
Over a month ago, a two storey building under construction collapsed in Lekki area of Lagos, killing two people.
