3 Killed, Score Injured, As Hoodlums Clash In Lagos Island
At least three youths who were allegedly involved in a clash between miscreants from Okesuna Street and their counterpart in Patey Street in Lagos Island were Thursday killed, while several others sustained fatal injuries.
It was learnt that one of the victims nicknamed ‘Osingin’ who was alleged to have supported Okesuna hoodlums also known as ‘Area boys’ against Patey was attacked with a locally made gun and cutlasses by Patey boys during the clash.
Residents who have deserted their homes said hoodlums from Patey and Okesuna have been at loggerhead over supremacy for over five years.
It was reliably gathered that Osingin was with his friend in the early hour of Thursday morning when the clash ensued and while returning back to his home at Oshodi, the Patey boys ambushed, machete and shot him several times.
The crisis reportedly took a frightening dimension when information about his attack got to Salu Court and Oshodi boys quickly group themselves to rescue Osingin, who later died at a private hospital while the doctors were trying to remove bullets from his body.
“The news of his death, which spread like wild fire led to the reprisal attack by alien force comprising of Oshodi, Okepopo and Salu court boys who invade Patey where they unleashed terror in the area”, source revealed.
According to a source, “It was during the reprisal attack that another two boys from Patey side were lynched to death and several others who were innocent residents’ sustained fatal injuries”.
It was also gathered that the quick intervention of anti-riot policemen and military men called in by one elder called ‘Jaga’ saved the situation, as it could have become mass massacre of residents and innocent people in Patey area.
As of the time of filing this report, Policemen and soldiers were seen patrolling the area, while a Police source revealed that their detectives have been sent out to arrest some of the miscreants.
