3 Men Remanded For Gang -Raping 14-Yr-Old
An Ado-Ekiti Magistrate Court on Tuesday ordered remand of three men in prison custody for allegedly gang-raping a fourteen-year-old girl.
The accused persons, Samuel Farotimi (27), Sunday Ajimoko (40) and Sunday Ilugbo (30) were arraigned before the Court on Tuesday for allegedly having the carnal knowledge of the girl (name withheld) without her consent.
The trio, whose addresses were not mentioned in the court are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and rape.
The accused persons, according to the police prosecutor, Sergeant Oriyomi Akinwale, committed the offence at about 9.00pm on January 29 at Odo Ado area of Ado-Ekiti, where they forcefully took their turns to rape her.
Akinwale told the Court that the accused persons conspired among themselves and raped the victim while coming back from an errand.
The prosecutor noted that the offences, the prosecutor said contravened Sections 33 and 31 (2) of the Child Rights Law of Ekiti State Cap C7.
In her ruling, Magistrate, Mrs. Dolapo Akosile ordered that the three persons be remanded in prison custody pending receipt of legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
She adjourned the case to March 14th for further mentioning.
