Payment Of Gratuities Commence Soon-Ogun HoS
The Ogun State Government says it is set to commence the payment of gratuities to the retired civil servants in the State any moment from now, just as it awaits the official circular on the implementation of the removal of ceiling against HND holders in the public service of the State.
The State Head of Service, Elder Sola Adeyemi disclosed this while defending the 2017 budget estimates for the Office of the Head of Service, Bureaux of State Pension, Establishments and Training before the members of the State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation led by the Deputy Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Elder Adeyemi said arrangements were being finalized to commence the payment of the gratuities from late 2012, explaining that the sum of N9bn had been proposed for the payment of pensions and gratuities in the next fiscal year.
Elder Adeyemi disclosed that his office would sustain the economic independence of 12, 840 State pensioners through functional pensioners’ data base system and biometric capturing; stating that his office would ensure blissful retirement for all State retirees.
Taking her turn to defend the budget of the State Civil Service Commission, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Bolaji Chokor, disclosed that the commission was committed to making the civil service in the State the best, especially in the discharge of its statutory functions next year.
Mrs. Chokor said to achieve the commission’s set objectives for the next fiscal year, it had proposed a total budget expenditure of N185m; out of which N160m was meant for recurrent expenditure, while the remaining N25m has been earmarked for capital projects within the period.
