New Miss Nigeria Emerges
After 10 days of intense tutoring and preparations, Chioma Obiadi Stephanie (Miss Anambra) has become the 40th Miss Nigeria held at Eko Hotel Convention & Suites, Victoria Island in Lagos.
The Beauty pageant which ended at the early hours of Tuesday morning attracted many dignitaries including the Chairman/Publisher of Leadership Newspapers, Mr. Sam Nda-Isaiah, Chief Segun Osoba, Chief Dele Momodu, publisher of Daily Times, Fidelis Anosike and the 1st Miss Nigeria, Madam Grace Oyelude, Rita Dominic, Oge Okoye, Dayo Adeneye among others. Anchored by by comedian, AY and Lala Akindoju, the thirty-seven contestants showcased the beauty and brains of Nigerian women, wearing their different traditional attires which showed the beauty of Nigerian culture.
The judges pruned the contestants to Top 10 and finally to Top 5 which included Miss Delta, Miss Kwara, Miss Ebonyi, Miss Osun and Miss Anambra. After musical performances from Unique fingers, Ebisan, Kaline and rave of the moment, Tekno, the winners were announced: Miss Kwara won the 2nd runner-up, Miss Ebonyi won the 1st runner-up while Miss Anambra got the top prize, a saloon car and an all-expenses paid trip to Paris courtesy Air France. She will also represent Nigeria at the 2017 Miss Earth beauty pageant in the Phillipines.
Chioma Obadi Stephanie is an undergraduate student of Geology at Nnamdi Azikiwe. She takes over from the outgoing queen, Lessi Peter Vigboro.
Over 1,000 beauty queen hopefuls entered for the Miss Nigeria pageant however only 37 made the final cut. The auditions were held in Abuja, Port Harcourt, Enugu and Lagos State. The pageant is hosted by Daily Times Nigeria Limited.
