JAMB Installs More CCTV Cameras To Tackle Examination Malpractices
The Registrar Chief Executive of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede on Monday said the body has installed more CCTV Cameras in its 600 centres to tackle the problem of examination malpractices.
He disclosed this in Lagos at the meeting he held with JAMB/CBT centres owners and other stakeholders on the 2017 registration modalities.
According to him, the 2017 JAMB registration would commence on the month of March and end in April while exam proper is on the 6th of May 2017.
In an interview with newsmen, Oloyede explained that the essence of reducing registration of candidates from three months to one was to eliminate all the ills associated with prolong registration.
He cited the example of some centres that request for candidates registration number a week to the examination and change the centres, assuring them of adequate training.
According to him, there is going to be mock exam for the candidates that register for it in April 2017, adding that the concerned candidates for mock examination will pay at the CBT centres;
“CBT owners will only collect N700 and we have told them not to allow cash transaction,” he said.
JAMB registrar assured the blind students while addressing them of residential training for proper information on the examination, saying they noticed that some of them did not perform better in the past exams.
“We will organise a residential training for you (blind candidates) and call experts to speak with you on the various subjects. We must be fair to you. States Governors should be able to buy machines for the blind candidates that would write the exam.”
Oloyede hinted that for the purpose of JAMB examination, the blind people should not be referred to as physically impaired, saying some people who can see also claimed to be blind and cited such related case at Abeokuta.
When asked why the exam body is prone to changing tactics, Oloyede said there is nothing new in what they have done , saying ” we are doing nothing new, we are only giving you full disclosure of what is happening.
