Ekiti APDA Suspends  Chairperson Over Anti Party Activities

The Ekiti State chapter of the Advanced People’s Democratic Party (APDA) has suspended its state chairperson, Mrs. Foluke Okeya, for alleged misconduct bordering on anti-party activities and highhandedness.

Twenty four of the 30 members of the SWC of the party in the state signed the suspension letter and unanimously resolved that the Deputy Chairman, Elder Tunde Agbabiaka, should function as the acting chairperson.
Okeya was also accused of abuse of office and conducting herself in a manner likely to cause disaffection among party members which the members noted, was capable of bringing the party to disrepute.
Messrs Aruleba Lawrence (Ikere LG), Boboye Ajibade from Ado local government, Mr. Ayoola O. from Efon LG, Chief Adesola Olagbemi, Ikole local government among others were some of the signatories in the suspension letter .
When contacted on the telephone, Okeya, who dismissed the allegation, said she was not aware of her suspension, but admitted that the national body of the party was already aware and had subsequently contacted the acting chairperson.

A statement made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti entitled ‘Re” Suspension of the Ekiti APDA interim chairperson: Mrs Foluke S. Okeya, Resolution of the State Executive Committee’, the party also announced the setting aside of the five-member disciplinary committee earlier set up and replaced it with a fresh one made up of seven members in compliance with section 139 of the party’s constitution.
