PMB’S Return: Groups, APC Take Rally To Fayose’s Doorstep
Interest groups, including the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State on Monday shut down Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital, with a rally to celebrate the return of President Muhammadu Buhari to Nigeria, saying Governor Ayodele Fayose goofed on his stance on the president’s health.
President Buhari, who left the country on May 7, returned to the country last Saturday after spending 104 days in London, where he went for medical vacation.
The groups, which comprised politicians, civil society groups, artisans, students and transporters , massed at the popular Oke Iyinmi roundabout and marched to the APC state Secretariat at Ajilosun, where they slammed Governor Ayodele Fayose over the statement credited to him that President Buhari had been placed on life support since June 6, in a London hospital.
Armed with placards of various inscriptions, the coalition, which created a traffic snarl between Ijigbo and Ajilosun area said the return of the President has shamed Fayose and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who they accused of feeding Nigerians with lies over Buhari’s health condition.
The APC Acting Chairman in the State, Mrs Kemi Olaleye, while addressing the crowd said God has shamed those wishing the President dead, saying Buhari’s return will further step up the anti-graft war, the war on insurgency and dampen the calls for secession.
Olaleye used the occasion to assure party members that the APC flag bearer for the 2018 governorship poll will emerge through transparent primary and the unanimous voice of the party members.
“Mr Fayose has turned himself to propaganda-in-chief, but we are happy that God has shamed those who thought President Buhari won’t return alive. With this rally, the end has come to Governor Fayose’s reign in Ekiti.
“The good people of this state are not in support of Fayose’s action, because we are cultured and compassionate people. Look at the Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Nyesom Wike. He went to Abuja to welcome the president back to Nigeria. That was a show of maturity, why is our governor not learning from this?”
