CP Orders Investigation Of Police Killing In Osun
Osun State Commissioner of Police Olafimihan Adeoye has ordered investigation into the death of a man, allegedly shot by a police officer yesterday in Oke-baale, Osogbo area of the state.
Residents of Oke-baale area in the State capital had earlier in the day been thrown into a state of panic following alleged shooting of a man to death by a policeman.
According to the command public relations officer, Folashade Odoro, investigations were underway to unraveling the cause of the ugly incident which led to the loss of the man.
It was gathered that the fracas which led to the death of the man identified as Segun Emir started on a football pitch at Gbeja area of Oke-baale early hours of Sunday.
While some witnesses claimed the victim and his suspected gang of thugs engaged the police in a fight, Others say the police were only defending themselves from mob action, before one of them shot the victim on the chest.
He was said to have been rushed to a private hospital in the area, but, was rejected and ordered to be taken to LAUTECH teaching hospital for treatment where he gave up the ghost.
As of the time of filing this report tensions were high in the area, as his gang members were reported to have taken over the street to protest his killing.
