Police Nabs Fake Medical Doctor In Oyo
Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 40-year old man identified as Felix Orimisan for allegedly parading himself as a qualified medical doctor working with the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
The suspect was arrested at Abanla Village, Idi Ayunre, Ibadan, while attempting to falsely obtain money from innocent victims.
Speaking with journalists on the arrest, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Odude said “the impostor, whose modus operandi was to visit pharmacies under the guise of checking for fake drugs, had visited a drug store at Abanla village and fraudulently collected some drugs and money before he was arrested.
“After thorough investigation, our detectives attached to the Criminal investigation and Intelligence Department revealed that the suspect was expelled from the Delta State College Of Medicine due to his poor academic performance.”
While speaking with journalists, the suspected fake doctor said ” I was not trained as a medical doctor, though I was admitted to Delta State University, Abraka, but I was not privileged to graduates as a qualified and certified medical doctor.
“I was arrested while I was checking in on one of the drug stores in Abanla village, though on that day, I was called by a friend in that area to come and treat someone in that area and afterwards, I checked into that drug store presenting myself to them as one of the medical doctors from UCH looking for fake drugs and unknowingly to me, the owner of the shop is a police officer’s wife and they called the police which led to my arrest.”
” I was trained in Ghana as an alternative doctor capable of curing people of different ailments with herbs after I discovered that I could not graduate from the University for Medicine which I was admitted for,” the suspected fake doctor said.
Items recovered from the suspect include fake NMA identity card, some fake results and documents suspected to have been forged or stolen, a stethoscope and a medical overall apron.
