Obasanjo Lacks Moral Rectitude To Criticise Buhari – Kalu
Former governor of Abia state, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu on Friday said ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo lacks moral rectitude to query the integrity of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Kalu, who was on what he described as “Peace Advocacy Tour” of the South West of Nigeria noted that President Buhari is a man that is committed to Nigeria project that would take the country out of the woods.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after paying advocacy visit to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi in his palace, Kalu said Chief Obasanjo never entertained criticisms as a president of Nigeria.
According to him, regardless what he called “gang up against Buhari by the ex- leaders”, the president is on course for another term of office come 2019.
The ex- governor added that his peace and advocacy tour had previously taken him to many royal fathers across South Western Region of the country, urging Ooni to continue his peace initiative and nation building in the interest of a united Nigeria.
“Talk of integrity, Obasanjo is incompetent to criticise President Buhari. As governor of Abia, I wrote letters to President Obasanjo criticising him and he, because of that, swore to make life difficult for me. He is today writing letters every week, attacking Buhari.
“I know Buhari very well. He is not corrupt. He does not own property anywhere. Some people should not just put the country in crisis. Whatever they may have in plan, Buhari will return in 2019,” Kalu said.
Commenting on plans by the Igbo to produce Buhari’s successor in 2023, Kalu said the project is realisable with the help of other parts of the country.
“Igbo man can succeed Buhari in 2023. But we can’t do it alone. MKO Abiola came to my mother’s house in Abia several years ago seeking support and we voted for him.
Earlier, while addressing Kalu and his team, Oba Ogunwusi commended him for working towards promoting peaceful co- existence among Nigerians.
He charged other eminent Nigerians to always put the interest of the generality of the country above personal interests, stressing that, when those in privileged positions start sacrificing for the country, Nigeria would be a better place for all.
