Osun 2018: Oduoye Joins Guber Race
Eldest son of former military administrator of Niger state, AIG Simeon Oduoye, Kayode, has declared his intention to vie for the governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the September 22 Osun gubernatorial election.
Kayode Oduoye, a businessman and politician who made his intention known at the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP party secretariat in Osogbo, used the occasion to explain how he intends to revamp Osun economy, if elected governor.
He said any aspirant thinking of running the state with only monthly allocation, should not bother to contest the governorship poll.
According to him, Osun entered into technical recession in the year 2013, stressing that with the right approach, economy of the state can be revamped.
Oduoye explained that, while present loans taken by government can be renegotiated, he however added that many of the loans already procured by the present administration were taken without due process.
Responding, the chairman of PDP in Osun, Hon. Soji Adagunodo assured all gubernatorial aspirations of level playing ground in accordance with democratic principle PDP is known for.
According to him, if the party is unable to produce a conscientious candidate, it would conduct a transparent, free, fair, and credible gubernatorial primary in the state.
While describing Oduoye as a competent aspirant who can add value to PDP by virtue of his experience as a successful business man and grassroot politicians who had made positive impact on the development of Osun state, Adagunodo implored him to go back to base and work assiduously for the victory of Osun at the poll.
He enjoined party members to close rank, work on the aggrieved members and team up to achieve Victory for the Peoples Democratic Party in the forthcoming election.
