PDP Raises Alarm Over Alleged Plans By APC To Disrupt Primary In Ekiti
The Southwest office of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday raised the alarm over alleged plans by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to disrupt governorship primaries in Ekiti state scheduled for Tuesday.
The party alleged that APC in connivance with some elements are planning to replicate same action of APC primary last Saturday to cause confusion in the party .
Speaking with Newsmen in Akure, the Ondo State, the Southwest zonal chairman of the party, Dr. Eddy Olafeso ,said “There is nothing beyond them, if they can disrupt their own primary, they see nothing wrong in coming out there to come and disrupt others, but we are waiting.
Olafeso who noted that the price of liberty is eternal vigilance, said “we are there and we are watching, If they attempt it they will be sorry but the truth is that we will be peaceful in Ekiti state.
“We are not going to behave like in the past when we assume that because we are peace loving, APC will be peace loving too.”
Olafeso however expressed optimistic that the primaries will be peaceful and carefully organised election.
His words, “I want to draw your attention that On Saturday we published the list of the delegates, apart from giving the list of the delegates to the aspirants, we published it in National dailies to show there is no hanky panky.
“APC went to Ekiti they were buying votes because they know they are out of touch and out of reality of what is happening in Ekiti. The Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose, has done the basic in the state in the last three years without borrowing money and has turned that state to model state for a lot of other states to emulate.’’
“You will be exited at the end of the PDP primary because I spoke with all the contestants and they all know it’s a family affair and that only one person will win and the winner will work with others”.
On the last Saturday Southwest rally of the party , Olafeso said ,”It’s been a tragic three years journey for our people and it’s about time we reclaim our nation and reclaim our people.
” What we did in Osun is just the beginning of our plans to unify the south west for our party, so while we are thanking all the leaders for their contributions in kind with their presence, I want to state to the people of the nation that APC is not the answer.’’
