Gunmen Kill Ekiti APC Treasurer

The Treasurer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Hon. Moses Adeoye, has been killed by some unknown gunmen.

It was gathered that Adeoye was killed at his residence in Otun-Ekiti, headquarters of Moba Local Government Area of the state while taking his dinner on Wednesday night.

The APC leader had served as the party chairman in the local government before his recent emergence as the state’s Treasurer of the party.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Caleb Ikechukwu, who confirmed the incident to journalists in Ado Ekiti, said the police had launched investigation into the matter.

Ikechukwu said, “The case has already been reported with the police and our men have swung into action.

“We have started our investigation to make sure the perpetrators are arrested.

“We commiserate with his family and assured the people of Ekiti state that the police are on top of this matter.”

The state’s Public Relations Officer of the APC, Ade Ajayi, described his death as “sad.”

Ajayi said the deceased was on the entourage during Governor Kayode Fayemi’s ‘Thank You’ visits to Ekiti North and South Senatorial Districts in Ido and Ikere-Ekiti on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the state chapter of the party, has expressed shock and sadness over what it called devastating news of the death of their member.

The State Chairman of the party, Barr. Paul Omotoso who spoke when state excos of the party paid a condolence visit to the family of its late Treasurer yesterday adding that none of it’s members were safe because it could happen to any of them.

Omotoso who described the deceased as a responsible, honest, agile and committed party man agile prayed that such would not happen again.

The APC who also described the horrible incident as a terrible blow to Governor Kayode Fayemi, APC , party members and particularly people of Moba said the matter would be investigated and the perpetrators would be brought to book.
