NSCDC Nabs Man For Defrauding Victims Of N1.8m In Ekiti

A 57-year-old man, Akinwunmi Yomi, has been arrested by men of Ekiti State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for defrauding three persons of 1.8 million Naira.

Akinwumi was said to have swindled the trio of Oluwoye Taiwo,  32, Adeola Joseph,  71,  and Yusuf Bamidele 36 of the said amount in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

The suspected fraudster, according to his victims defrauded under false pretence and hypnotized them so that they will not remember any transaction made with him.

Speaking when he was paraded at the state command headquarters of the NSCDC yesterday in Ado Ekiti, Akinwumi said he specializes in defrauding his unsuspecting victims under false pretence.

He was arrested in his shrine located in Oke-Ila area of Ado-Ekiti, following series of complaints lodged by the people at the NSCDC headquarters on the dangerous activities of the suspect.

During the raid on the shrine, the suspect was found with charms, a woman pant,  a Calabash and a picture of a  popular prophet in the state capital.

When questioned on how he got the woman pant found with him, the suspect said the pant belongs to his wife.

But investigation by the NSCDC revealed that the suspect was being economical with the truth on the underwear in his custody, which he might have obtain from a young lady.

The suspect who later confessed to the crime is currently assisting the operatives of NSCDC to apprehend other members of the gang who are operating across South Western part of the country.

Speaking on the arrest, the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr.  Solomon Iyamu, warned the people of the state to always be wary of fraudsters by not falling victim of their antics.

Iyamu also warned traditional chiefs in the town to desist from shielding fraudsters in their district as anyone caught will be serious dealt with.

The NSCDC further explained that the suspect will be charged to court after  the preliminary investigation on the matter have been concluded.
