Petrol Attendant Bags 7 Months Imprisonment For Stealing In Osun
Thirty-nine-year-old Ifamoyegun Remi on Monday bagged seven months in Correctional custody for stealing in Osun State.
The convict was said to have committed the offence on June 11, 2020, at about 5:00 pm at Mobile Filling Station, Okefia, Osogbo
He further alleged that the defendant stole the sum of Four hundred and Sixty-nine thousand Naira (N469,000:00) property of MOBIL OIL NIGERIA PLC.
The defendant admitted guilty to the offence slammed against him by the police
The prosecutor, while giving the fact of the matter told the court that the defendant did steal engine oil from the filling station store and sold it
He also said that the defendant did fill the bottle of the engine oil with water after he sold the original content.
Defence counsel, R.A Ugwu in his allocutus prayed the court to be lenient and be merciful on his client
The offence committed is contrary to section 383 and punishable under section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol.II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002
In her ruling, Magistrate Risikat Olayemi sentenced the defendant to 7 months in government correctional custody and also pay the sum of N400,000 to the complainant in the matter
