Man Docked For Locking-Up Wife, Children In Osun
For his alleged high-handedness and intimidation, Osun State Police Command, on Thursday, arraigned fifty-two years old Bejide Ayodele at an Osun Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ile-Ife.
The Prosecutor, Sgt Saheed Anifowose, told the court that the defendant locked up his wife and children with padlock in their house between Sept. 17th and 18th, 2020 at about 4:50 pm in House E3, Road 22, OAU Senior Staff Quarters, Ile-Ife.
Anifowose said that the defendant thought within himself to commit felony to wit: threatening violence and conduct likely to breach the existing peace.
He added that the defendant intimidated the life of Mary Lawrence, Ayoowuro Bejide and Tobiloba Bejide by injuring them in their dwelling home.
The Prosecutor stated further that the defendant entered his residential apartment and locked his wife, Folake Bejide and children up in their dwelling house with padlocks.
Anifowose stated that the offence contravened sections 81, 86 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge of threatening with violence, intimidation and breach of peace.
The Defence Counsel, Mrs Temitope Olajolo, applied for the bail of the defendant, pledging that she would stand his case.
Magistrate A. A. Adebayo granted the bail of the defendant in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum.
Adebayo added that the surety must swear to an affidavit of means among other bail conditions as the case was adjourned till next year for mention.
