Police Arraign Father Over Assault On Son’s School Principal In Osun
The Police in Osun on Thursday arraigned one Adeyeni Adeyeye, 35, before an Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ile-Ife over alleged assault on his son’s school principal.
The Prosecutor, Asp Abdullahi Emmanuel, told the court that the defendant assaulted one Sanusi Ademola, the principal, Oduduwa College on Feb 1, 2021 at about 10:30 am at the premises of Oduduwa College, Ile-Ife.
Emmanuel said that the defendant conspired with others now at large to commit a felony to wit: stealing, wilful damage, assault and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.
He added that the defendant invaded the school unlawfully, dealt blows on Sanusi Ademola, tore his shirt in a manner likely to cause breach of public peace.
The Prosecutor stated further that the defendant also unlawfully assaulted one Awoyeye Olayide by hitting her with fist blows.
Emmanuel told the court that the defendant stole a car key, office key and a bag containing cash sum of N50,000, property of Awoyeye Olajide.
He said that the offence contravened sections 249(d), 351, 383, 390(9), 451, and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the six-count charge of conspiracy, stealing, assault, wilful damage and breach of public peace leveled against him.
The Defence Counsel, Mrs Oluwatosin Ademola, pleaded for the bail of the defendant in most liberal term, with the pledge that her client would not jump bail, but stand his case.
Magistrate A. A. Adebayo granted the bail of the defendant in the sum of N1m with one surety in like sum.
Adebayo added that the surety must swear to an affidavit of means, resides within the court jurisdiction, must be civil servant of Grade/level 12 among other conditions as he adjourned until March 3, for hearing.
