EKSG Insists Workers Welfare Remains Top Priority
The Ekiti State Government has disclosed that the welfare of the health and medical workers in the state remains a major priority of the Dr. Kayode Fayemi led Administration.
In a statement jointly signed by the Commissioner for Health and Human Services Dr Oyebanji  Filani and Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation Hon. Akin Omole stated this while reacting to the strike embarked on by the Resident Doctors of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH) reportedly premised on the unusual delayed payment of the June salary.
The Commissioners said that the development was a source of concern but noted that the government appreciated the understanding of all government workers, especially the health workers during this fiscally challenging time.
While disclosing that the government was still knee-deep in fighting the COVID 19 pandemic, they advised the medical and health practitioners to remain calm and dedicated to duty stressing that efforts are being put in place to amicably resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
The statement appealed to the striking workers to reconsider their position and continue to engage the government on how best to resolve the industrial dispute. They noted that the strike action could be counterproductive considering the nature of their services in the state.
They assured the good people of Ekiti State of better healthcare service delivery, stressing that the government has embarked on massive renovation of both primary and secondary health facilities across the state, adequately equipping them with modern medical equipment and commodities to guarantee a conducive working environment for our health workers across the state.
“We remain committed to protecting the health of all indigenes and residents of Ekiti State while ensuring that workers are duly remunerated for their selfless services”. The statement read.
