Oyetola Retreats Commitment To Road Safety As FRSC Kicks Off Year 2021 Ember Months Campaign
Osun State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to preventing avoidable road crashes, particularly during the prevailing ember months in the last segment of the year.
This is as the Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC Osun Sector Command kicked off year 2021 Ember months Campaign targeted at avoiding road crashes  characterized by heightened cases of accidents due to increased human and vehicular movements during festivities.
Oyetola who spoke at the flag-off ceremony of year 2021 ember months campaign themed: “Maintain Safe Speed, Avoid Night Travels and Enjoy Quality Road Experience”, organized by Osun Sector Command of the FRSC, described the sensitization campaign as a welcome development at this material time.
The governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon Lekan Badmus at  the event  held at former Ile-Ife toll gate, in  Ile-Ife, stated that research has made it known that over-speeding by motorists and the influence of alcohol are the twin-roots of road crashes in ember months.
While disclosing that nothing less than 500 kilometers length of road had so far been rehabilitated and/or constructed across the State, Governor Oyetola stated that his administration had also instituted security architecture that had placed the State on national mark.
In his goodwill message,the Zonal Commanding Officer Zone RS11.1 Osogbo, ACM Emmanuel Omotosho Abe said the ember months campaign is an annual event,which has been  sustained over the years, to ensure safe roads for motorists and other  road users.
He affirmed that the convergence of relevant stakeholders is to exchange ideas on preventing road traffic accidents synonymous with the ember months, as he appealed to stakeholders in works and transport sector to ensure road repairs, particularly in the ember months for the safety of lives.
