A Civil Society Organization, ‘World Institute for Peace’ (WIP) has charged President Muhammad Buhari to call Osun State Police Command to order to avert the imminent reoccurrence of the #ENDSARS# protest in Osun.
Addressing journalists in Osogbo on Wednesday, the Group Executive Chairman, Ambassador Lamina Kamiludeen Omotoyosi said the ugly incidences that led to the agitations have become endemic again in Osun.
He noted that innocent youths are being harassed with impunity in the state capital and some notable routes in the state through illegal acts of extortion and checking of phones and laptops by some police officers.
Omotoyosi noted that the human rights group observed that because the perpetrators of this dastardly acts were not checked nor punished accordingly, some police officers of Osun State Command have continued to be carrying out illegal activities which the presidency and the office of the Inspector General of Police has forbidden.
Besides, according to him, people will finally lose trust in the judicial system of this country if Nigeria Police, Osun State Command is allowed to sweep the alleged gruesome murder of one Prince Saheed Ajibola Olabomi by some police officers in the state in July, 2021.
“It is saddened, worrisome, niggling and nerve-racking that the command of Nigeria Police Force in Osun has not allowed justice to take its course on the police officers who was alleged for killing of Prince Saheed Olabomi despite the court order from the Ministry of Justice which stated that the culprits should be presented at the court”.
He noted further that it is so pathetic and deplorable that Osun is the state that has the highest number of police road-blocks and illegal check points where series of illegal activities are been carried out on daily basis.
