15,908 Vulnerable Citizens Benefit From FG’s Poverty Alleviation Programme In Osun
No fewer than 15,908 vulnerable citizens including persons with disabilities and the aged have benefited from the Federal Government poverty alleviation programme tagged National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) in Osun State
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq on who disclosed this at the flag-off of federal government cash grant to vulnerable groups in Osogbo, Osun State said the initiative was part of moves to alleviate poverty among the people of the state.
Farouq who was represented by Dr Nasir Saani Gwaso at the digitized payment of cash grant of #20,000 to each of the beneficiaries said that Federal Government was paying more attention to the plight of the poor and vulnerable across the country.
Gwaso said 15,908 households in the state are receiving monthly cash transfer of N5,000 under the Federal Government’s National Social Investment Programme.
He said “over 12 million households have benefitted from NSIP interventions in the last 5 years. Osun State has 18,731 N-Power beneficiaries under Batch C1; 15,908 households receiving monthly cash transfer of N5,000.00; and 95,983 Primary 1-3 pupils receiving meals prepared by 1,940 cooks all in Osun State.”
Speaking, Osun State governor, Adegboye Oyetola noted that Osun state has not relented in its efforts to alleviate the suffering of the vulnerable citizens through the monthly distribution of food items to them across the state.
Besides, the Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme OYES has impacted immensely on the youths through the provision of employment opportunities to them among other programmes.
